Oh dear, I've had such a busy day. I have an underactive thyroid and I'm on 150mcg of thyroxin, I usually take them as soon as I get up but I really don't think I did but I'm not sure and I started feeling a bit ill earlier, just dizziness really and I just sat down and felt really bad, like I was going to pass out, really wasn't nice, so I thought oh my gosh did I take them?I cannot for the life of me remember. I just took one 25mcg to see if it helps and it has a bit but I don't really want to take anymore incase I did and I'm just having a low day because I don't want to overdose, oh my gosh what am I like

I am the same way. I have all my medicine/supplements in those pill organizer things. I got one that's 7 days and 4 time slots a day so I use them as a month planner. I just wrote the days on. I have had to on more then one occasion count pills to see how many were missing(easy enough on a rx you only take cause of being ill as opposed to something maintenance

You should make a list and check it off after you take how much you need, so if you think you don't remember you can just look at the list and check.

Yep it must be my age
I have never been this forgetful, to forget taking them is one thing but to forget whether I've forgot to take them, oh dear

I have a terrible time with memory, so shortly after I started having to take pills everyday I decided I better buy one of those weekly pill case things with 7 compartments.. And still I forget to take them in the morning sometimes, but if I forget if I forgot, at least I can look and see if I took them or not..

Hope you feel ok and get back on track tomorrow.
Happy Birthday!!!

Never take a medication if you can't remember if you have taken it already. It's better to miss a dose than to take more than you are prescribed.

As others have suggested, get a weekly or monthly pill organizer and set out your pills at the start of each month for each day. That's what I do and I know at a glance if I have taken that days medications or not. Not to mention it's easy to just grab the pill box and put it into a bag if you need to go away for a few days.

I have one like that, it's got a child safety on it since I had an incident way back when of my then 2yr old taking one of my pills because they looked similiar to her nausea pills. Thankfully she was ok, and I had kept the pills in a container so I could tell the Emerg how many of what she took.

I take multiple meds a day, and need the 4/day + an additional container with just one compartment per day.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Unfortunately I learned the hard way, and it only took once. Most of my meds don't double well, but thankfully not harmfully either but if I don't take them I enter withdrawal fairly quickly on my anxiety meds, hence taking just once
.

They also play havoc on my memory, hence the pill reminder. I find I'm on more and more medications and my memory is shot...for my safety and everyone elses I need to remember.

PLUS, if I have to go to hospital, whomever can grab my pill case, which I slip a piece of paper from my drugstore in the back of, that has my current meds.

I have this one:

as my main one, plus one like this for my larger tablets and I place 4-6 tabs in each compartment which is my daily dosage.

and LOL, I got another just recently as sometimes the red one is hard for my poor hands to open so I picked up a different one but its more of a pain that anything BUT I do like how I can pop out a days worth and throw it in my purse rather than taking the red container.

well worth the money... Meds shouldn't be taken lightly IMO. If I can't remember, then I wait for the symptoms of withdrawal to start. (only happens if I am out and forgot to bring my container)

I'd highly recommend the red one to anyone.

That's easy to do when you're on automatic pilot in the morning. Since I don't have school today, I went back to bed after getting up at my usual time, and for the life of me can't remember whether I took my thyroid medication, either. It's become second nature after all this time, so I probably did. As others have said, it's better to skip a dose than to double it.

This has happened to me occasionally as well, so what I try to do is take my medications at the same time each morning, right after breakfast while I'm enjoying my coffee.

I think I will get a pill sorter as I worry about my kids getting hold of my tablets and I think it was because the kids were off school and I got up a bit later than usual. I have took them this morning and I feel so much better, I have never felt like I did yesterday, it was horrid. x
