I'm not sure if this is in the right section.

Is it not dangerous to play with a lazer pointer with a cat if you don't
*Point it at there eyes.
* Reflect it from a mirror to his face.

My mom took my lazer pointor away from me because she said it's not safe, and now me and my cat are bored

[ My cat is staring at me right now waiting to get played with]

Yes .. it is unsafe to point it at the cat or reflect it toward your or kitties eyes

It is safe as a toy when you shine it on the flooring or the walls

Yes, that's why I was doing.
I'll go tell her it is safe if you don't do that.

Exactly. Plus kitties need exercise! At least my fat boys do!

I must also point out that as the parent of 2 teenagers, sometimes stuff just gets to me and when my kids are doing the laser pointer at the dogs and they are bouncing off the walls, sometimes I jsut want them to stop!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I didn't vote because you didn't include the option - it's safe if used properly!

It is a GREAT way to give a kitty exercise! Some cats need to "catch" something, and to do this, just hide a couple of treats under the corner of a rug or under a handkerchief, and make the game end by pointing the dot there.

Of course never point it directly into the cats eyes or let it reflect off of a glass/mirror/reflective surface into their eyes. I also don't let my cat play with the laser light for very long periods of time, because after a few minutes of looking at it on the floor myself, the red dot takes a little while to disappear from my eyesight.

It's safe, as long as it isn't pointed it the cat's eyes.
