New Cat

I have been wanting to get a second cat for a LONG time. I've been pestering my husband and I think I might be breaking down that wall. I got a hold of a local rescue here and found this cat that I think would be a great fit http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/16963652

I'm going to talk to my husband about it tonight, but his foster mom is willing to bring him over for a "test run" or a sleepover for a week or so to see how it goes and how he gets along with Nora. He sounds and looks adorable, so I can't wait to see how it goes. He has two brothers and the rescue is willing to do a two for one, but I don't think I could convince my husband of that. haha

I turned in my adoption application and it was approved, so now it's just getting him in our house. I can't wait!!

Awwww, he is adorable.

I hope you are able to win over your hubby

He's adorable! that your hubby will agree and that he fits right in!

Oh my gosh what a cutie! Except for food, I don't notice much difference between one and four cats, actually. I mean, it's not like they take up a lot of room!

I just LOVE how he has a spotted nose and different colored pads on his feet, both just like Nora does! They even have the same bright yellow eyes. They almost look like they could be siblings. I can't wait to meet him.

Beautiful kitty and I hope your husband falls in love with him.

that your husband is amenable to the idea.

He looks adorable!! I hope it all works out for you!

We've been wanting to get another cat for a while now too, actually we've been talking about it for about a year but kept putting it off because of travel, then moving, but now, no excuses! Apparently Genever has tolf BF that she's attacking a tree because she's bored and wants a friend. So, I guess we better hurry up and find one for her!

YES!! Yes yes yes yes!!!! He said yes! He also said okay to his brother coming also! He's white with tabby spots, so cute! I'll post a link to him when I get home. Their foster mom is going to bring them both over tomorrow, so they get to spend Christmas with us!!

Does anyone have any tips for us? I've never done something like this before. I only have one litter box right now, how many should we pick up tonight? Do we need to get anything else?

He is super cute!!!! I hope it works out!!

He's really cute!

Oh yayyyyyyy!! How exciting!! Merry Christmas to you!

You'll want 3 more boxes (1/cat + 1 extra). Confine them to a separate room with all the ammenities and let them get used to your home for awhile. Run a Feliway diffuser for them (& Nora), too. When we adopted Tumbles, we put one in the room with him and 2 out in our house for the girls.

Read the introductions thread in the behavior forum for lots of really good tips on introducing the new guys to Nora. Don't go too quickly and let Nora set the pace. Fawn over her since you're about to totally upset her world.

Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions and don't forget the pictures!

Except on the bed.... don't forget the bed!! I've had so many times when they sprawl and I'm left with either a sliver of the bed or I have to sleep diagonally...

I know, I'm so excited! We're going to name one of them Walter, but not sure which one yet. I want to see them and get to know their personalities first. I LOVE the show Fringe and absolutely love Walter, so that's where I'm getting the name from. After we get to know them we'll decide on a second name.

I am NOT going to be able to sleep tonight. I've been begging DH for a second cat for ages, and now we're getting TWO more!

Man, if I had two boys coming in at the same time, I know one option: Statler and Waldorf from the Muppet Show...

Or if you're familiar with Jeff Dunham's puppets: Walter and Peanut...

"sucker"

Merry Christmas to both, and of course to the 2 handsome boys that you are opening your home to
post #30 of 31
Sucker, yeah right, you'll be head over heels in NO time!

I am SO SO SO happy for you guys! A very exciting Christmas! No doubt Nora will be a little put off at first, but I'm sure with some time and patience, they'll all tolerate, if not love each other in no time.
