Hi i was just wondeering do cats swish their tail differntly when they are feeling differently?

i have noticed that when olly is being all gorgeous and wants fussing his tail is straight up and i just swishes the top side to side.

If the cat's tail is held high and swishing back and forth in the air, it means the cat is happy and wants something from you (food, patting). With Luna if we hold her, her tail will begin to swish back and forth, that's the first sign she wants to be put down. She doesn't like being held.

Take a look at this site. There are some things that seem to be fairly standard, but remember each cat is an individual. You'll just have to pay close attention to try to figure out what your cat is telling you.

I've had several people tell me Merlin is getting ready to spray when I know he's really just very happy. And no, he's never sprayed.
