For the first time in at least a couple months, Lily just gave Ariel a good grooming. It used to be a daily thing, and Ariel would try to do her part with Lily, too. But, as I've written here, after being best friends, they have grown apart. They are both on the computer desk now as I write, and Lily just gave Ariel a good 5 minute once over on her head and face.
Since last I wrote about this, I haven't seen them interact with each other, at all. Ariel no longer runs into my office for "dinner" as was the habit. Lily eats in there alone, and I take Ariel's bowl to where she is. She's a reluctant eater most nights, at least for this canned meal. She's more of a kibble eater.
Lily seems to have established a playful relationship with Harlow. They are my two best "players" (other than Tonya who still lives by herself in her own room). So, maybe the drift between Lily and Ariel all has to do with the addition of my last two cats - Harlow in July and Tonya in September.
Anyway, I'm feeling very glad that Ariel and Lily had this tender moment tonight.
