Mr. Poe had this rough patch near his left ear. This morning I noticed it was now a bare patch the size of my pinky nail. Thought to myself, "Yikes! Ringworm!" Called the vet and got an appointment for late afternoon.

Washed up well and changed clothes before I went for my afternoon playing with kittens stint in case it was ringworm.

It's not! Can you see me doing the happy dance?

"Since he's here," said my vet, "let's give him his first kitten shots. And worm him again too."

When I asked if he wasn't too young for his shots I was told he's about 3 months old. Which must be right because he weighs 3.8 pounds.

And what's so very nice is that my vet comped me for the visit, the shots, and the worming.

Here I thought I've been going in to work with the born-to-feral kittens, helping to socialize them so they'll find good homes because it was emotionally rewarding to me and helpful to the kittens.

Apparently my vet thinks it is a good thing too.

Did I mention that this year alone she's taken in, treated, and adopted out about 100 kittens?

Don't you agree that my vet is so nice.

Your vet does, indeed, sound like an angel!

Our hospital takes in mothers-to-be and helps them with their kittens. They'll put ads in the newspaper that they have kittens to be homed and they'll agree to take a certain percentage off their spay/neuter if you become a mom or dad to one of the kittens. The fee for a kitten is pretty much what they've spent on it up until that time. They're wormed and tested, too.

Of course, if you just happen to take one of your own cats down to the hospital for a check-up and the receptionist asks you if you want to see the kittens and you say yes? There's a pretty good chance that one of those adorable baby kittens is going to claim you as its new mama and, at that point, there's an even better chance that you're going to eventually come home with one of 'em! Just ask Mollipop!
She had it all worked out, I swear.
