Roundworms?

I'm waiting for my break to call the Vet...I'm a bit worried about Tiggy. He was dewormed so I don't think it's the issue; still...he has vomitted a few times (three times I can recall) in the past 3-4 weeks.

He usually vomits while I'm asleep (once when Sasha was still with us, once at my parents' place last week and once last night). Since he loves his food and since (like many cats) he's nosy and has a bad habit of picking stuff off the floor (lint, dust) I assumed that's all it was. I give him kitty malt and figure he'll be fine.

Only this morning; I found what looked like a small broken rubber band in his vomit. I don't keep rubber bands at home (Sasha pooped one a few years ago!) so I couldn't figure out where he might have found it...I took a closer look and the "rubber band"; it was off-white, was coiled (in a circle) and had tapered ends...

Sort of looked like a noodle bent in a circle, with tapered ends. Roundworm looks like that and can be vomitted by cats...his fecal analysis was clean, I don't get it!

Roundworms release their eggs in cycles. Test between cycles and the fecal won't have any. Also, a fecal sample only looks at a very small amount and can miss eggs sometimes.

Honestly, a vomited worm is about as 100% as you're going to get that your cat has worms - as is physically seeing worms (whole and in pieces) in stools.

It's not an emergency. Your kitty will be fine. Your vet will either suggest a couple courses of dewormer, two weeks apart, or you'll just use Revolution for a couple months.

You will have to do a few complete litter dumps, scrub boxes, clean floors the best you can, etc until all the deworming is over to try to get rid of as many eggs in the environment as possible.

Tiggy was dewormed in October (sounds right) and the stool sample was negative, however; the litter box was shared thus it's possible the wrong stool was analysed.

He's the only cat now, so the condition will be easier to assess. The Vet agreed to squeeze us between appointments tomorrow, to bring a stool sample if possible.

What had me worried was his lower than usual appetite today...I'll see how much he ate when I come home from work.

Remember depending on what wormer is used a series of 2 or 3 times maybe needed

I was seen almost immediately; and Doc Mardinger prescribed Profender topical for Tiggy. He gave him the first dosage and I'll give Tiggy his second treatment in two weeks. In one month, Doc Mardinger wants me to take three stool samples (three separate BM's on three days) and bring those in for analysis.
