Orange Tabby

Hi Guys

I have a question about my orange tabby that I hope you can answer. I noticed that when she was a kitten she had a small brown spot on her gums and over the course of the last 7 years she has gotten more, what is this? I assume its probably nothing since she has always had it, it doesnt bother her at all she eats and playfully bites all the time, but just wanted to know what it is

Thanks
Jeremy

also they appear to be flat, there not raised or anything. Just look like a small freckle.

My orangies all had those dark dots here and there. I think it is something common to orange cats.

Thanks for saying what color your cat is, that is 100% the reason for those spots. It's a weird pigmentation thing which orange colored cats get sometimes. They may start to appear on the nose and eye margins as well, it's nothing to worry about.

I call them "freckles"! My orangie, Elliott has many of them on both his mouth and nose. Osiris also has a few, and I have had many orange fosters with them as well. Perfectly normal.

All of my red cats have them, and they do get more pronounced as they age.

When I first got Wessie (my orange tabby), I noticed after a while that a piece of "dirt" had a appeared on his gums. I later discovered that it was there for good... and that it was actually just a freckle. About two years later Wessie has a lot of freckles on his gums and lips, even a few on his nose. Don't worry, your cat is PERFECTLY normal!
