Wow, that's really pretty. But you can keep your snow. No, really! I insist!

We don't have any snow and I'd like to keep it that way. Alas, our local weatherweenies are calling for snow on Christmas Day. I may have some pictures to share at that time.

Yes, very pretty, but I have had enough, too. And I am worried as to whether my family will make it here for Christmas.

Right now I am wishing my ancestors had kept going west and settled in Hawaii.

It's hideous here. We got about 5 cm this morning, but now it's raining and one big slushy mess. Trains are running an hour or so late or have been cancelled, roads and airports are closed in part, and walking or driving is a nightmare.

That's beautiful! I cannot imagine Christmas without snow. I did it once and spent Christmas in Florida - it just didn't feel right to me.

I do believe it is different if one is retired and not having to go anywhere at any specific time. When I was working I hated to wake to snow and have to brave the traffic to work.

On that note I'll wish all of you folks in snow areas a safe and happy Christmas and hope the weather does not prevent you from having/visiting family.
If I have plenty of groceries and food for the animals, and if I don't have to go anywhere I love the snow but if I have to go anywhere I live on such a curvy, hilly road that its not a good thing.

It's odd that it hasn't really snowed yet in southern CT. We usually have had a decnt accumilation by now. However, it's probably due to the fact that my father finally got his plow truck up and working and therefore there is no snow to plow. lol

LOL!

The home in that last picture is very beautiful. Add a Christmas wreath to the door and photoshop the satalite dish off and it would look like a home you'd see in a calender.

Our snow is nonexistent, thankfully. We'll get some later, but for now it's still a bit too early.

What lovely photos! The snow and your house are really picturesque.

This does give me the opportunity to wish everyone (and especially those of you in Europe and the UK) a very safe and peaceful holiday. May all your traveling and last-minute shopping go smoothly in spite of the weather!
Send some of that snow my way! I really want Luna and Midnight to see it.
Maybe see it, but not feel it. Jamie and Miezi are so sick of snow that they venture outside for five minutes at most. It almost takes me more time to put on my jacket, gloves and boots than it does to take Jamie for his daily walk right now.

Very pretty!

No snow here, but it's been raining since Thursday night, with only a few hours of a break yesterday and a little bit today. Pouring now though, and going to continue through Thursday I think. Inches of rain in the desert of Southern California!! I really really hope our roof holds up...

GORGEOUS pictures and a beautiful home! I do understand having had enough of it, though thankfully it's not because of where things stand this year. We've only had a few snow flurries here and there and nothing's stuck to the ground. I'm perfectly happy without a white Christmas these... years.
Wow, what fantastic pictures and your house is beautiful, looks like scenes off a christmas card. As pretty as the snow is, its a pain in the butt. We had alot last week, then it melted, then snowed giving us about 1cm and now it has froze and its pretty lethal. They keep saying more snow, then no snow, wish they would make their minds up. x
post #18 of 38
Oh yes, we have snow..Lots of it: 50cm -70cm (19-27 inches) in this city at the moment and we're getting more all the time.
I took few pics through my bedroom window 3 weeks ago when we didn't have that much snow yet, but it was sunny which was kinda surprising. It's only some birch trees and the quality is bad (looked much better in their huge original size), but here are the pics anyway:

I should take some better pics now that we actually have lots of snow here, I just don't want to go out..

Well here's my preciptation. Not pretty snow, but it's stuff that fell from the sky and is now raging past my house. We've got a storm channel probably 10-15 feet deep or so that runs behind out yard, and usually it's empty, with just a small trickle of mossy water running down the middle. Well, since it's been raining almost non-stop since Thursday night, it's a river back there! About 3 feet or so from the top! It better not overflow! Our yard and garden are already puddles!

Well, DarkMavis, it appears to be rainy season in CA. My aunt and grandmother used to live there, I heard stories...

As for us here in WV, we have dirty snow on the ground, not road, but they are threatening us with a sizable Christmas Eve/Christmas Day snow. It's been so cold!

Love, love those pics, Milk Maid!

About a week ago we got about 8-10 inches, It was so windy its quite variable in depth. The local snowmobile trails are not open due to this. Tonite we are supposed to get another 3-6 inches then actually a bit of a warmup to 30F tomorrow. So maybe some ice as well (yuck!).

Snow looks so beautiful when I'm not driving in it
post #23 of 38
There has been snow on the ground for the last 3 weeks. It's snowing now, and will all night and into the morning. It may ruin my plans to drive 20 miles to take my very elderly mother on some errands tomorrow.

The forecast says snow "showers" on Christmas Eve (and Christmas), which will be very picturesque and appropriate. However, I have to take my cat, Lily, to and from the vet's - 20 miles each way (80 miles in all) that day. So, it's not good for me.

Those photos in France are spectacular. But you are not really used to this, right? And the Finnish photos - beyond words. So lovely.

I love and hate snow. When I was young I skied constantly - even picking a university in a town in Montana with 2 ski areas nearby. I skied twice a week on average. And then I took up cross-country skiing and did that for many years - in the mountains, and going to resorts just for that in northern Wisconsin. But now, I have a long, long, driveway, and I am sick of getting up at 4 a.m. to get out so I can get to work. I hired someone to help with it this year. I fear driving in it, and the altogether hassle of it all. It's a pity. I still think it is beautiful.

WOW! Beautiful pictures, but I certainly wouldn't want to get out and about in it.

Living in Texas, we don't get a lot of snow, but last year we got the snowfall of the century or some such thing. It snowed for 24 hours straight. I have never been so sick of snow in all my life! I don't know how you folks who live in snow country do it.
Classes are supposed to start in 15 minutes, and I'm the only person in the entire building. I probably should have listened to the radio before leaving the house at 6:15 a.m.! Maybe some people will trickle in.

So, this is my house this morning:

Down my street in each direction:

Little evergreens in the backyard:

It was only about 4 inches of new snow, but it is drizzling and freezing ice on the roads. So, I'm staying home today. Just came in from shoveling.

Holly through the snow (12 holly bushes around front and one side of house):

Little hemlocks off the back porch, drowning in snow:

The weather is so much of the world has been crazy the last few years. This is usual for here, though.

Wonderful Snow you have in your Area. Sadly the last snowfall was on Sunday, it was wonderful snow to play in, but the snow from Sunday is still here, and its all frozen and yellow, you can't really play with it. But it sure is cold. We hit -18 on Thursday! Brr.

Gosh that's all so beautiful. We have no snow here, and I'm bummed. However, just west of us, in the mountains, they are getting FEET of snow right now!
