We had to run to Pet Smart tonight because I needed some extra blankets for Luna and Midnight. They had their adoptions earlier this morning, but some of the kittens were still there. There was 1 little tuxedo that was so cute. He was 3 and 1/2 months old a little younger than Midnight. I really like tuxedo's always wanted 1 (for some reason) named Spooky. If I had my own place I think I might have taken him, but probably not because I'm still mourning
Lynxx
and haven't really been spending much time with Luna and Midnight, never mind another 1. But maybe a tuxedo is in my future?

Maybe you'll get one some day. I really like tux's myself, right up there with orange cats. Maybe you're wanting another kitten right now because you somewhat blame your current two kittens for Lynxx's declining health (from what I remember from your posts) and a new kitten wouldn't bring back those memories?

At any rate, you're still mourning Lynxx, which is natural after spending most of your formative years with him. He was your childhood cat and he has only been gone a short time; I think it might be a good thing that you're taking a break from the kittens for a while if you're still remembering Lynxx's stressful final days. Normally I would suggest spending more time with your kittens after a death, but in this case you need to work out your emotions about Lynxx beforehand or you may never develop a really strong relationship with Luna and Midnight.

I like orange 1's to. My great grandmother got me a beautiful orange and white striped cat with blue eyes named Mickey 2 when I was little. She wasn't exactly friendly, and wound up running away. But I always remembered how beautiful she was. Even some of the relatives who don't like cats, commented on how beautiful she was.

About a year before we got
Lynxx
a house on the street behind us burned down. The family that lived there just left, and didn't take their animals with them. The 1's that were outside lived. They had this nice long hair tuxedo. He'd come to me when I called him. My mother wouldn't let him in the house, but we fed him, played with him. Luckily another neighbor took him in, and he became an indoor only cat so I never saw him again. But after that I always wanted a tuxedo like him. Spooky is what I would have named him.

I never actually blamed Luna and Midnight for
Lynxx's
death. I blamed myself for bringing them here. But I've found other indicators that something else was wrong with
Lynxx
, and whatever that was, it was happening to him right at the same time as the other 2 came here. I have been looking through pictures and videos. I have some videos that prove something was wrong with his stamina during the Summer before August. I also have some pictures that show the beginning of him losing his fur on his stomach before August. Our original vet never picked that up, and he saw
Lynxx
right before the 2 kittens came here. He's the 1 that said everything that was happening to
Lynxx
, was because of the kittens. The 2nd vet wasn't able to tell us what caused the liver failure, but she never once believed it was the kittens. The kittens stressed him, he hated them, but whatever he had, was an illness they didn't cause.

I just wish these 2 came here last year, that way their kittenhood memories would be of playing with them, and having fun. I didn't really get that with the beginning of their kittenhood, because most of that time was spent with
Lynxx
crying over him because I knew he was dying, and watching him get sicker and sicker.

Another kitten would actually be good for Midnight because he's got so much energy, that he even tires Luna out! But I don't know how he'd react to another kitten. He wasn't exactly welcoming of Autumn, then again Autumn only attacked him. Luna so far has proven she likes being around other cats, so I think she'd be ok with it. If and when I get another, a tuxedo would be at the top of the list.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!

We love tuxedo kitties! Gary used to dream about starting a tuxedo-only rescue ranch.
Of course - you can't say no to other kitties that need rescuing - but it's fun to imagine dozens of just tuxies!

I expect there's a tuxedo waiting for you when you're ready.

That would be cool, but how would you tell them apart?

I've always called black and white cats "Japanese" cats because in so much traditional Japanese art, they depict them.

I've never had one myself, though I've known a few. I admire them, and one may be in my future. I have only had one gray/brown tabby in my life - my first cat. But I am determined to have another (with a pink nose, of course) before I die. They are my very favorite cat as far as looks, so it is odd I've only had that one.

Cats live so long (at least hopefully) that at age 60, I'm thinking that my current batch of cats will be the last young ones I get. By the time this gang passes on, I'll be about 75! But, I can bring home senior cats in the future. So I'm sure I'll be able to satisfy my tabby longings.

Actually, I know I'll never satisfy my cat acquisition longings.

You, My4LLMA, have lots of time ahead to get a tuxedo cat. But right now, aren't you struggling with the two kittens being at the wild stage? Two of them seems like plenty right now.

I don't know about the animal shelters near you. But there is 1 here, that if your over a certain age I believe it was 55, then you could adopt a senior cat for free. Maybe if you asked at the shelters near you?

Yes Luna and Midnight drive us crazy sometimes. But Midnight has so much energy, that he even tires Luna out! So I have been thinking about a 3rd kitten for him, 1 with a lot of energy that could keep Midnight busy

Oh, it isn't money that is stopping me from getting more cats. At least not the adoption fees. I have 5 cats, and for me that's all I can manage. Actually, it's probably one too many.

Adoption fees are only the tip of the iceberg, anyway. It's the constant care, including vet fees.

And the more cats you have, the more behavior issues there are. And I'm only one person. Giving them all the attention they want and need, is daunting sometimes.

I'm just talking about the future. I'll always want more cats. But I know what my limits are.
