Now that Lynxx is gone I have a couple of questions, maybe someone could answer?

How long will Lynxx's scent remain?

Luna was 6 months, and Midnight was 3 months old when Lynxx died last month, how long will they remember him?

I don't know. It took Speck a few weeks to get over it when Smoke crossed the Bridge. He and Smoke were very close. If I haven't told you before, I am very sorry for your loss.

Lynxx's scent will stay for diffrent lengths in different areas. Areas Lynxx frequented most and are least used by Luna and Midnight will remain the longest. As Luna and Midnight start marking everything, Lynxx's smell will be pushed out of the way by the their smells, until it is gone. It can take weeks in the areas Lynxx was in the most.

As for remembering Lynxx, who can say? Cats can't tell you if they remember their old friends or not, but I am tempted to believe they have the ability to mourn a friend for a really long time. Since Luna and Midnight are both so young, and since they are much closer to each other than either of them was to Lynxx, I'm not sure if they will remember Lynxx for much longer than his scent stays around.

I think it depends, too, on how long the cats were together and how close they were. When Banshee died, we think BooBoo may have grieved for her for 4-6 weeks as that's how long it took for him to stop crying and walking around the house looking for her. And he was in a terrible funk during that time. Those two were very close, though, so maybe it took him awhile. The other cats got back to normal quicker.
