Why Did I Want to Adopt This Cat???

This was the pic that stole my heart back in July.

So far this morning, he's played, played, played, terrorized Callie to the point of hissing and hiding. He's attacked Hannah and it was not a pretty sight. He ended up in time out for that. I was folding laundry down on my bed and he jumped up in the middle of the folded towels and started "attacking" them. He's spent much time trying to jump and bounce off the walls in the hallway. He's chased all kinds of toys. He's stolen food from Callie while she was eating. Then, when I came into the living room, I saw this:

What was I thinking????

Wow I was complaining about Luna and Midnight, but at least part of our tree was still standing. Actually it's on it's way down. My mother's taking it down right now, because Luna got scratched in the face with a branch, her face was bleeding. We won't let them get hurt, having the tree up isn't worth that. We checked Midnight over, we found no injuries on him, but he's darker colored. Luna's mostly white so we could see the blood very clearly on her.

awww you were thinking the crazy kitten phase doesnt last forever and that you wanted to give a beautifuly little one a great furever home

In the mean time

That sweet face? Nah! I don't believe you! It was gremlins

The way I see it, with the tree laying that way, there is more room for presents. I suspect that the gremlins felt that there would be more room for kitty gifts under the tree if the tree covered more area.

This is definitely what happened!

Oh my! Well, feel free to send him MY way if you'd like!

Stephanie, I know, I know I shouldn't be laughing.... But I couldn't help myself! I agree! See... He is there watching the gremlins jumping out of the window! Oh Stephanie, if you just got there a few seconds earlier, you would have got them!

What were you thinking?

That you would love him no matter what, and you DO, don't you? And he makes you laugh, most importantly, doesn't he?

(I, secretly, didn't want adopt Darko and Stinkpot when we found them on our doorstep because I knew how much work it would be to have kittens around, but I am SO GLAD we did! Everyday they still make us laugh, even though they will be 2 years old in February. I don't know what I would do without them. Life would be boring, that's for sure )

You were thinking how much fun a mischievous kitten is. He wasn't the first and certainly won't be the last cat to topple a tree (Jamie did it again last night - I just put the tree up yesterday).

It's certainly a good thing he's so dang CUTE and that I love him to pieces or he'd be packing up to hit the road to Kailie's! (Not really!) He is fun, but it was just EVERYTHING in a short period of time that was so annoying!

I'm sorry but after seeing that last photo, LOL LOL

And I love the way he's just sitting there looking at the toppled over tree! As if he's seeing it for the first time!!

Hah!!

Spring is our expert tree climber...I'll hear him charging around the house like a herd of Rhinocerii late at night, then hear this clinking and rustling of the tree branches as he charges up the tree...which leads to me wandering...more like charging..out to the living room...to find...nothing disturbed...but a little furry head popping out'n the side

Mind, the tree we got fits a perectly sized 6lb kitteh to a t(r)ee...68" at the bottom diameter and 7.5 feet tall---it is VERY bottom heavy...hence can take the abuse the little one gives the poor tree.

Aw, he's just a baby. One of these days he'll grow out of that 'take no prisoners' kitty phase, and you'll wonder why all he does is sleep. I love telling DH "we haven't had a kitten for Christmas in a long time"; he looks at me sternly and says, "No".

Aww, he's adorable! The tree fell on its own.

That is so funny. He's just being a teenager!!!!

Oh, that kitty makes me laugh!!!

I say that about Mollipop sometimes, too. Like when she's trying to rip the pine roping off the stair railing. Or when she's taken Ornament #22 off the tree...we've never had one cat take 22 ornaments off a tree! And we have over a week to go! Or when she's lying on the newspaper on the kitchen table that I was trying to read. Or playing on the an lounger at 4:30 in the morning.

And then when she wants to take a nap, she comes over to me and snuggles into my arms. And as I watch her sleeping with that totally innocent look on her face that only a sleeping kitty can have, I fall even deeper in love with her.

Ok, she can be a terror on paws. But she's MY terror on paws. Just like Tumbles is yours. For better or worse. And when he's older, you'll look back on these times. And you'll smile.

Well cute can also be evil. Miagi & Tiger I adopted as adults and are well-behaved cats! Angel.. I had her since a kitten.. never again. Kittens ARE cute.. but can be evil too. Angel was a sweet little kitten, now she's a evil cat but we still call her a "kitten" even she will be 2 in April. Luckily he's cute right?

Aww he was framed by the elves.

Kitten + Christmas Tree = BIG MESS!!!

You're having some real fun now, I can tell. By next year he won't be nearly as much fun, but your Christmas decorations will survive better.

Adorable little thing!

All of you that say they will grow out of it are big fat fibbers!!! Gigi will be 2 in feb and she is still a holy gremlin terror to my tree lol. I'm ashamed to post pics of it because it looks like it was attacked by monsters. Half the branches are missing and were turned into a bed behind the tree, I only decorate with garland and that's sometimes dragged clear across the room by the munsters..... lol unfortunately now with her and 2 kittens its 3x the damage as last year. I really need to post a pic of my mangled tree.

No matter how goofy it looks though I'm tempted all the time to leave it up year round because they have such a blast playing in it.
I shouldn't laugh, but... If there is anyone on this forum who WOULDN'T want Tumbles, I'd be surprised.

Aww, that almost made me cry right there... My SIL is the only other person in my family who has a cat, so she understands me. We talk all the time about how our cats are a pain the butt, but they're OUR pain in the butt!!!! There have been MANY times when I wondered what I was thinking when I decided to bring Holland home... but then I realize I can't imagine life without her.

I'm so glad all of you understand. I wouldn't trade the little terror for anything. He's such a sweetie 99% of the time. He definitely keeps us in stitches and laughs. I really love him to pieces and have enjoyed watching him grow and learn to trust humans.

Well I said my current cats are 3-6 years old, and I'm not putting up the tree this year. And I still won't try a Christmas Tree for at least a couple more years. It just isn't worth it. I've been there too many times.
