Anyone on here play the Sims?

I've generally been a huge fan of the series and bought them as money allows. Currently I'm thinking of asking for Sims 3 for Christmas (actually, DH asked if I'd like it) and I'm just wondering if anyone's played it.

I have 2 and most of the expansions and was always pretty addicted to it (although I haven't re-installed it on my new computer because of an install glitch I haven't had time to deal with) so I', interested in 3, although I'm wondering how much of an adjustment it will be since I had so many add-ons for 2...what do you guys think? Is it worth it?

I LOVE 3, and I like it much better than 2. It's easier to use and laid out much better. I don't like going back to 2 now. You'll love it, and it is very easy to get used to.

The problem I ran into is that you need a pretty BIG computer and graphics card to run it. I have it on my husband's $2500 work station and while it can handle it, the big graphics card that was added onto it stopped working so it's running off the basic card and I had to dumb the game WAYYYY down just to get it to run. I had to stop playing it on my HP b/c it just couldn't handle it.

I have not tried 3 but I love 2 and my fav is the pet edition and I want to try the apartments edition and I figured out how to cheat to get money quick by creating a person just to have them move in and out of an established home till they have plenty of money

Or you can just hold down ctrl+shift+C and then type in "motherlode" in the box that pops up. I have learned how to copy and paste it, and can do the buttons fast enough that I can give myself millions in just about a minute. I've been playing Sims forever. I have every expansion pack of The Sims and every expansion pack and stuff pack of TS2. I now have every one for TS3. I'm a junkie. LOL

You know, my son and I used to play the original SimCity on the Super Nintendo. We would spend hours working on a city and I remember one time while we were eating dinner, a plane crashed. We left our dinner and had to go fix everything from the crash. Thank goodness DH wasn't home; he would have had a fit that we left our dinner for a video game!

I do have the Sims 2, I think it is, for the computer. Plus an extension where you have to contour the land before you can build on it. I haven't played that in years. But that's all I have.

There's also the "kaching" code that will give you $1000...

I think one of the reasons I'm interested in 3 is that I've almost played out 2. It's still a blast, but definitely not a challenge or anything and I do like the concept that your neighbourhood ages with you. I always thought it was silly that 6 generations of a family all have the same friends in grade school. I also like the idea that you can move around town with no load times - the constant loading really stopped me from ever really leaving the house.

As for computer specs...I did just upgrade back in August so I should be okay ()

Thanks for the feedback. I think it's definitely going on the Christmas list this year.
