when I was a little girl I used to dream of how my wedding would be. And honestly I had a nice wedding but it wasn't what I dreamed. I always wanted that fairy tale life. You know the husband goes to work and the wife stays at home and takes care of the house and family and it seems very difficult to find these days. And as much as I love my cat it would be nice to have her and a mr right. Some good news on that I have been exchanging some emails with a nice guy not too far from me and he has a cat and loves them and a neat thing his name is Isaac and the road I live on is called Isaac Lane so maybe that is a coincidence I don't know. But we shall see. I just really wish some of you ladies lived closer so we could have a girls night of lifetime movies, pizza, and ice cream

Whenever I see portrayals of "Leave It To Beaver" family life, I wonder how many stay-at-home wives are on psychopharmaceuticals (or slip them into hubby's dinner). That was an old joke about women's valium consumption.

My mom was a stay at home mom while my dad went to work. I mean she had her hands full with the 4 of us (with some interesting medical issues) but it was nice also...she was never one to not be busy...so she stayed at home and worked from home as well. Well before it became popular to do so. You see she is lucky...she is a piano teacher and her studio is in their house. SO she used to teach lessons in the afternoon while we did our homework and stuff. It worked out well she never got bored and got to do something she loved while also being able to keep an ear on us. And she was always around to help when we needed it. Plus her income was a nice addition to my dad's job when things got a little tight. When they weren't....she used that extra income to take us to the zoo, museums, etc. later the income would also be used to give us all music/dance/art/ lessons.

I had the great opportunity to spend my childhood watching how to teach music and it has made my career that much easier. Plus even today when I run into a problem with one of my piano students mom is always just a call away with some idea on how to fix the problem.

As for me...I am way way to much of a workaholic to be a stay at home mom. DH even agreed but he is all for being a stay at home dad!

I honestly work because I have to and have decided to pursue a degree in something that I could do from home and pays quite well. I like people but on my own terms and this time from being on medical leave showed me how much I wanted to be able to be home I have always been a homebody and all I truly ever wanted was to be a housewife but this way I can be one when the time is right and still earn a nice living to boot. And gives me a good excuse to sit at home in my jammys and say I am being productive. If I am not going anywhere I do my cleaning and everything in them and shower and change into more jammies. I am not a hermit but like I said I want people on my terms so I think this would be good for me only thing is I might become more prone to be that way but I guess its okay.
