I saw these at Petsmart this afternoon - has anyone used them? Then I read big steel pans from a restaurant supply place might work also.

My friend who managed a big shelter was going to switch over to them. That shelter uses aluminum "roaster" type pans that are disposable. She had figured out how much money the shelter would save by buying the stainless ones and washing them, rather than buying all the aluminum ones and throwing them out (!) each day. Actually they recycle them, but still. It was a huge savings - many thousands of dollars a year.

But she left that shelter and now runs another one where they use big plastic tubs that they wash.

So, I don't know. I use the aluminum pans, but I don't wash them more than once a week (if that) and I use them for several weeks. The stainless pans would last a long time. They cost a lot, don't they? I'd need four. How high are the sides, do you think?

They're around $30 a piece, iirc, and not that large. Do you have a membership to Sam's or another store like that, or know someone who does? (if not a Sam's membership cost $40, it's well worth it) Big stores like that sell products for restaurant supply, including those buffet stainless steel pans - in 2 or 3 to a pack.
I've looked at them myself, but have changed what I use as a litter medium and would rather not have to attempt cutting/drilling steel.

Otherwise look online, though I hope you can find an alternative that doesn't cost a lot for shipping.

ETA: Double checking, I think 20.5" x 12.8" to 21" x 13" (plus whatever depth you choose) is as large as they tend to come.

I use the petsmart stainless steel pan, and love it.  It cleans up much easier than the plastic ones, and does not retain odors at all.  I highly recommend  and am now in search of larger ones.

PEtsmart phased them out far as I know-have not scene them in a year or so after they went on clearence.  You can get the restraunt supply ones on ebay.  paid 20 for a brand new full size one.

Hello,

I am looking for a stainless cat litter pan, can you tell me where and when you bought yours?  Petsmart online doesn't seem to carry it.  Thanks!

Hi @mrosin1. This thread is old, so I'm not sure if any of the original posters will respond. While I don't know if actual stainless steel litter pans are still on the market, I do know that some people have used stainless steel catering pans (from the restaurant industry) as a close alternative. Something like this perhaps? This one is 4" deep, but I've seen 6" deep ones also. I would imagine it gets pretty heavy when filled with litter, so that's something to keep in mind.

Petsmart stopped about 1.5-2 years ago. They may have something new in stock now but I do not think many were selling as when I found mine on clearence the store even commented about them being a great value but still pricey.  They are starting to rust now but the catering pans are AMAZING and have not rusted at all.  Only issue is some cats like to flip those so have to wedge them in.
