you can't fake this kind of compassion - as reported by Franklin Graham in an interview to News Max (I know, News Max is a conservative outfit, but I believe Rev. Graham is a man of his word and reporting the truth of his observations) ...

here's the quote that got me (from the article entitled "Franklin Graham: Palin's Compassion Touched Haitians' Hearts":

You may not have the same religious beliefs, but you surely can see that she is willing to put what she believes into action.

It doesn't surprise me that she's not squeamish, after 5 kids and being so experienced in hunting and fishing. I've always suspected that women are sort of "programmed" by nature to stomach unpleasant smells, for example. There are exceptions of course.

She's a mom of several kids... and a woman.. how could she not be compassionate? I'm not a fan of hers by any means, but she's a human being. I can't imagine not being moved by seeing the things she saw. I think sometimes we can all become so judgemental that we lose some of our common sense

The thing is that the story is more telling about Graham than about Palin, i.e., that he found her behavior exceptional. Did he expect her to wrinkle her nose and get out of there?
He really looks like his father, doesn't he?
