My 12yo cat has Hyperthyroidism for at least 2 years and is currently being treated with daily medication.

I read iodine is important for thyroid functions. Sea salts and fish are excellent sources of Iodine.

My cat loves and has eaten tuna almost everyday her whole life. When she was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism, i stopped giving her tuna because of a concern tuna may be linked to producing Hyperthyroidism in cats.

Should i go back to giving my cat more fish based food like tuna to increase iodine? Perhaps too much Iodine causes thyroid function problems and increasing iodine is harmful.

You need to discuss this with your vet... I would think tuna is one too avoid and that most "cat foods" with fish would have adjust amounts
