Hi,

I'm trying to find out if my 7 month old kitten has some Bengal in her. This is the first cat I have owned so am very new to this, but some of my friends seem to think she looks like a Bengal. She does seem to have most of the character traits of a Bengal, loves to play with water, plays fetch with her ball (and just about anything she can fit in her mouth), wide range of vocabulary and loves to climb(no trouble for her to scale a 12ft wall in one attempt). Her fur is very soft. She is brown with pale golden stripes on he sides and back and spots on her cream tummy. Her body is very long and she swishes her tail when happy and sometimes fluffs it uo in a dramatic arc. I saw her with her mother her seemed like an ordinary tabby to me but have no idea about her father.

If she has Bengal genes in her I I wished to breed from her, would I gain any advantage in mating her with a male Bengal? Sorry if all this seems elementary but as I said I am very new to keeping a cat. Here are some pics and thanks for any help in advance:

Hi,

Your cat probably doesn't have any Bengal in it. As far as it's color, she is a Classic Tabby, and she is a Domestic Short Hair...
You really should not breed her... For her safety and health, please spay her as soon as possible... Millions of cats are euthanized a year in the US alone, and to breed more mixed kittens you would just be adding to these numbers...
Please spay your girl... for her health and safety, and to not further promote the already huge overpopulation problem we all deal with it...
She is gorgeous!

Yep, exactly what Carolina said. Please, spay her! She can breed at this age, if she sneaks out somehow she could mate with another cat. All cats that are spayed/neutered are said to live a longer life with less disease and are supposed to be happier without the stress if having to mate. Please, spay her.

She really is a beautiful girl!

Hi there
we're so happy to get the chance to welcome you and your gorgeous kitten to TCS. She is an absolutely beautiful domestic shorthair and has gorgeous markings; as well as the most adorable ear tufts
. I am sure you two will have many happy times together.

I can only add to what those have said before. Breeding should not be undertaken unless within a registered breeding programme. If you do not have papers for your lovely girl and you are not intending to enter into a properly regulated breeding programme; then she needs to be spayed. It is heartbreaking to learn how many cats and kittens wait in shelters for a loving home; many having to be euthanised because there simply is not enough room for all. That is why we are a pro spay/neuter forum.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay with us - we're one great big family and you'll find loads of friends here. If I can help at all while you're finding your way around TCS just click on my username and send me a Personal Message - I'll do what I can to answer your questions.
