It's that time of year again, and even though we have 6 cats and a dog in the house, the mice are calculating that the risk is worth the pay-off of being warm and cozy inside rather than outside.
So Teri told me several days ago that she was 100% positive she saw a mouse dart out from under the stove and dart back in. No cats around to witness this of course.
Until.........yesterday morning. Runner had trapped this mouse under a chest in our den and was of course terrorizing it. Catching that mouse with Runner and Loki watching/helping/intent on murdering the mouse was I'm sure a sight to behold and unfortunately none of it was caught on video, as it would, no doubt have been hysterical to watch.

Loki is apparently the dim bulb in the house, since he is now obsessed with what is under the stove. I tried to explain to him that the stove is not a mouse vending machine.....to no avail. Hmmmm, maybe he's the smart one and knows another mouse is lurking under there.

used to do that. He'd catch the mouse, kill it, know it's dead. And he'd spend the next 2 or 3 nights afterwards hanging out in the spot where the mouse used to hide, thinking he'd catch some more. In this house there was always a mouse for him to catch in the Summers. Even when he was very sick he still managed to protect his family
back in October he caught his last mouse.

Luna hasn't seen a mouse yet, she was recovering from being spayed when that mouse got in. So I don't know how good of a mouser she is.

I know Midnight will be a good mouser. He was on my lap copying every move
Lynxx
made. Only back then he was to little, so we didn't let him near the kitchen until
Lynxx
finished his duty.

The way Midnight growls and hisses at toys (and things he claims as his) I pity the poor mouse who decides to come into the house this Summer.

OMG that is so cute. I went to open this thread and when I got to the pic Pixie raised up and was stiffing the air like she was checking out your handsome fellow or if there was a mouse here. And I loved the mouse vending machine.

Many years ago, we had three cats in the house. Big old farmhouse in PA. The cats seemed to take an inordinate interest in the stove over a period of a few weeks.

Finally, we pulled out the bottom drawer. A mouse took off!

Snoopy slapped it, Snowball chased it, but Tigger caught it.

No more interest in the stove.

Yeah, I'll bet there really is a mouse under that stove and Loki is the only one smart enough to figure it out.

I"m with GoldyCat on this one.. my boys KNOW... when there is a critter about.... they alerted me to something scratching and apparently trapped in the wall of the garage where it meets the front porch... by the time I could do something about it the next morning the noise was gone, so whatever it was... it either perished (
) or saved itself.

ETA - Oh.. and I pity the critter that gets in the garage or house... with seven cats .... well six that patrol the house... Cass usually hides upstairs... it wouldn't last long.

Mouse vending machine!! A mouse got into my kitchen through the hole at the back of the cooker. But I was the one that caught it, with a trap. It was so funny, when I opened to cupboard to see if the trap had worked, Biscotte leapt in, grabbed the trap with t he mouse in it and paraded it round the room, so pleased with herself! Right now there are mice in the cottage that I am trying to trap. I don't let the cats in there (sometimes the holidaymakers let them in) in case I have guests who are allergic.
