The sight has really improved! I'm hoping she'll be back to 100% althought the Vet has warned us it could reoccure! The hearing still is gone!

I'd love to post a photo but I haven't been able to figure out how to upload a photo to the site!

The procedure for adding pictures to your post is under the Threads for Newbies in the New Cats on the Block forum. You can find it here. And yes, we love to see pictures.

Do you get to pet that tummy?
She's a beautiful girl!

And for the picture to appear in the thread, all you have to do is put (i) at the beginning of the link and (/i) at the end of the link, but use [] instead of () (use brackets instead of parentheses - I just can't use brackets to explain it or it thinks it's trying to post a picture LOL).

SOPHIE's vision continues to improve! She may also be getting some hearing back! We'll know more a week from today when she goes back to the Opthamologist for a blood pressure and retina check! We are so glad that we took her to the Eye Dr. or she'd be wandering around in a dark world!

The easy way to post a photo:

1. Load it up to a hosting site. (You did that already.)

2. Open the photo on the hosting site.

3. Right click on the photo.

4. Click "Save photo location," or whatever your particular browser uses to do that.

5. Type your message here.

6. Click on the icon on the task bar above the message that looks like a photo of a mountain with the sun over it.

7. Put your curser in the blank in the popup window.

8. Right click and then click "Paste."

9. Click "OK" and the photo URL will appear in your message.

10. Click "Submit Post" down below the message.

Just catching up on this thread now. I am so glad she is doing better. My heart sort of broke when I read the original post. I love these happier endings!

Thanks for caring! We just finished a 2 week "road trip" with Sophie and her vision seems to be really good! She handled the trip to her "NJ home" really well! She seems to be hearing more! We're not sure if lowering the Blood Pressure has had an impact on the hearing or if she's more responsive because she can see again! We really hope that the improved vision is permanent. P.S. we adopted her from the Town animal shelter in Edison, NJ in April '08 while visiting our kids & grandkids!! After a trip to the vet for a check-up and "dematting" she flew to her new home in Florida!
She's a great traveler!

I may have spoken too soon! Sophie's vision has been improving for the last two weeks, and tonight she's having a problem again! We'll check with the opthamologist tomorrow morning! She's been on schedule with her Norvasc and all seemed well! The Dr. said she might have a relapse six months or so down the road but we thought she was back to 100%! I'll keep you posted! Please send prayers her way!

Sophie lost vision for about 12 hours and after her morning dose of Norvasc the vision came back! We took her to the animal opthamologist in Jacksonville this afternoon and the Dr. thinks she might have had a temporary increase in blood pressure that caused an intermittent problem.

The good news is that both retinas are almost fully reattached. (less than 10% detachment) and her blood pressure was down to 170. (it was 250 when she first lost her vision, then 190 three weeks ago) He's going to keep her on the same dosage and we go back in three weeks for another blood pressure check! He also suggested if she begins to lose vision again to slighly increase the norvasc to bring the pressure down!

They had to shave her rear leg to take the blood pressure and she let out some growls and hisses I've never before heard from our little girl!

Thanks for all the prayers and good vibes! Fred & Diane for Sophie
