Has anyone experienced this problem?

We have our oldest living cat, Buttons. She will be 15 years old in April.
I just now picked her up in the kitchen where the light is really bright, and her pupils did NOT retract.

I noticed that she never ever looks directly up at someone, even though she wants to, she immediately looks down if she does. In her daily routines she is constantly looking down, at the floor, or looking indirectly at objects.

Now it makes sense why she doesn't look directly up.

Obviously she can't see as well she used to be able to, but does anyone have any idea what might be going on? Is this normal for an old cat?

We're going to try and take her to the vet as soon as can scrape up some extra money. (I hate having to juggle important responsibilities like this.)

A vet visit is definitely a good idea to rule out anything unusual, but vision loss isn't unheard of in older cats.

My parents' cat, Tiffany started losing her sight around age 14...it was just little things at first - like not looking directly at you or not following your movement with putting her bowl down until she heard it hit the floor. She also self-contained herself to a few smaller areas of the house where she felt comfortable. Now she lives exclusively in their family room and downstairs bathroom (mostly by her own choice - she gets really upset if she's taken from "her room".)

If it is just aged-related normal vision loss, cats generally cope really well.
