He looks just like his daddy, so we call him "Jr.".

The Gray Family has now been exclusively Inside since October 5, 2010 - now about 9 weeks.

They are kept separated from the other 4 in the house, living only in the FR, and sometimes, the adjoining office.

Of course, part of their living arrangements include the required accommodations of two litter pans. (ugh)

About a week or so ago I was sitting in the family room, where the Gray Family now resides.

I heard some coughing (the fur-ball being thrown kind of sound).

I got up to check out what was going on and saw Jr. covering something with the litter.

Hmmmm - I must be seeing things - the kid pitched his ball in the litter - so, he's covering it? wow

I thanked him for being so thoughtful!

I forgot about it - as thinking it's a fluke - well, until the other day that is ...

Again, I was in the FR and I saw this gray flash from behind the sofa (where they sleep) to the litter pan, then a coughing, then the sound of litter being pushed around.

So, I can't believe it - but, I really have to - and thought I'd share - ...
... probably a once in a Blue Moon cat .... we have a very special cat (a former feral kitten) that uses the litter to throw his fur balls.

I just had to share my amazement. I still can't believe I saw what I saw! What a Talent!

I love cats, they never cease to surprise!

This is a pic of both the boys in the Gray Family.

They are gorgeous. As for throwing up the hair ball in the litter box. You've got to exhibit him, so other cats can watch and learn! Midnight's good like that, the 1 time he threw up he ran right to the litterbox and did it. I was shocked, never saw a cat do that.

Oh my goodness, both of those furkids are just gorgeous! Wow! And intelligent, too! They need to give my kids lessons. My kids just throw up wherever they feel like it. In fact, if they're in the kitchen on the linoleum? They'll walk two inches into the living room, just to throw up a hairball on the carpet!

Gray, Jr. please come to my house to give my kids a lesson on furball-hacking technique. And I'd keep you forever, you pretty boy!

He needs to come teach Shadey how to do that, as he'll only cough up a furball in the MOST inconvenient places.
Absolutely gorgeous kitties!

Attitude used to walk around while puking so she spread the mess around. Nuts has never thrown up(that I know of) so I don't know what he would do. Attitude never had a hair ball in her life, and Nuts doesn't get them either and appears to not be prone to them in the least bit(he once ate a big pile of long hair I had just Furminated off of Attitude, he consumed it faster than I could get it away from him.) Maude would pitch where ever she was, if she was going to spew or toss a hairball.

Wish Attitude would have tossed in the litter box, would saved me on enzyme cleaner, and having to clean up trails of puke.

You have a special little guy and he's gorgeous too.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Oh my goodness are they GORGEOUS! You've done an amazing job with them, and they are VERY lucky kitties!

And WHAT a special, thoughtful boy Gary Jr. is!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lazlo has a terrible time with hairballs, and he'll usually throw up a few times before he gets them up... and he's another one that likes to be on the move when he's throwing up, so he maximizes the mess I get to clean up.
