My cat (she's about about 7years old) started to poop in my room when I moved out and left her at my parents place for a couple of months. She would do it when she's mad at my mother for being gone too long. And since I got her back in my new apartment with 2 other cats. She already knew them both from before. But only lived with one of them (which was a 9 months old.) and had lived with the other one in the past. The kitten and her would go in the same litter before I left. Since she has been at my appartment she would poop on the floor by the balcony(she was an outdoor cat but she never goes during the winter.) every day. But she will pee in the kitty litter. The kitten sometimes goes in her litter. Also the cat that poops on the floor is over weight, about 15-20lb.

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

Get at least two boxes. One for poop and one for pee. If you can, get more, up to two for each kitty. I've read that some cats don't like to poop in the same box as they pee. My kitty varies.
I've had him poop in front of me twice, when he was so terrified that he had to "lay down the line" to protect himself. It can also be a way for them to mark their territory in some way.
He's not mad at anyone. Kitties don't get vengeful. His whole world just got shuffled around and he became upset, maybe frightened. You left and were gone for a long time. It scared him. So when his secondary caregiver didn't come home within a non-scary amount of time, he got frightened and pooped. Kitties don't get spiteful or vengeful like humans. Their memories aren't good enough for that. They react on instinct and hardwired emotional patterns.
Love your kitty no matter how frustrating it is. My cat was peeing on my stove!!!!!!! I had to buckle down and decide to clean his boxes every day, rain or shine AND to change the boxes completely once a month AND put aluminum foil on the stove to stop it. He's my baby and basically anything he does "wrong" is my fault for not understanding him or for doing something stupid.
