When I was in the hospital and first diagnosed with cancer my sister gave me a book I had wanted for so long but never did get it. She brought it to me while I was in the hospital and I was so happy to get it.

My sister doesn't feel comfortable driving on the highways here but she had to in order to get to a Barnes and Noble to buy this book. Unfortunately they were sold out so she put it on order and then went back when the book arrived. To me that was the most thoughtful gift mostly because she drove in areas she didn't like.

I have two, it's a tie.
It's funny, but neither gift was a "thing"!

My husband gave me my sweet kitty Lily for Christmas 5 years ago. I had lost my companion of 15 years, Wilda, 2 years before. I have a really difficult time going into the SPCA, and couldn't bring myself to go and choose... So he did it for me and it was a perfect match. How did he know which kitty to pick? He says he just knew when he saw her.
He said he looked into my heart and saw just what I wanted for Christmas!

My birthday is in December and I grew up in central Texas, and I love snow. Even though we've lived in New England and now Canada, it has never ever snowed on my birthday and I've had a lot of birthdays!

Last year, snow was in the forecast for my birthday, but it didn't happen (outside anyway). But when I woke up and walked into the living room, my daughter had made paper snowflakes and put them in all the windows, and she used cotton balls on the sills to make it look like it had snowed. I finally got my snowy birthday!

Those certainly were two wonderful gifts. Your family sure knows you well and what you really loved and wanted, that's very special. Hope Lily is doing well.

I have lipodystrophy (meaning I have absolutely no fat on my body at all), so when I sit down I need to sit on pillows or at least very padded seats, etc. or it's very uncomfortable. That being said, sitting in a bathtub just doesn't work because that's a very hard surface. So...my best friend made me a bathtub liner out of some sort of foam rubber covered in some quick drying fabric that matched our bathroom decor, and she made it so when it wasn't in use it could roll up and tie closed. It was the best gift I ever got because she put so much thought into it.

Even though now we keep a litter box in that tub and we've since redecorated, and it doesn't even fit in our other tub, I still have it because it's very special to me

Years ago, right after Hydrox, the Old Coot, has passed away, we had our first Christmas without him. Well, for years, Hydrox had always given me my Stephen King book. The gift tag was always "kitty-made" with a lot of help from DH and it always had a paw print. I knew that it was Hydrox's gift to me. In fact, it got to be joke and I would ask Hydrox for whatever King book was being published that year. Understand Hydrox wa 20 years old when he passed away, so he had given me a lot of Stephen King books.

Well, that Christmas, the gift tag on the book was from Hydrox. He explained that he had arranged with Dad to make sure I had the book before he died. The tag went on to say how much he still loved me even though he wasn't around anymore and that he would always be there when I needed him. And then he said that he had told Banshee to make sure that I always had the newest King book at Christmas-time. I sat on the living room floor and bawled like a baby. I have that paw-and-hand-made Christmas tag in my desk to this day.

It may sound morbid, but DH knew that the first Christmas without Hydrox would be the hardest.

One of the most thoughtful "gifts" that I've ever recieved was when my wonderful boyfriend Jack suprised me with my puppy, Ranger right before Easter. He knew how much I wanted another Australian Shepherd and he had apparently been researching and looking around for several months before he got Ranger for me. (He even schemed it up with my sister lol). Jack drove all the way to Missouri and back in one day to surprise me with the Ranger! That pup has brought soo much joy into my life since I've had him and I have loved every minute of being his handler and preparing him for therapy work.

And aside from that, honestly some of the most thoughtful gifts that I have ever recieved were from members of TCS when I was going through a very tough time a few years ago. I don't think that those sweet people will ever have any clue just how much their love and kindness ment to me!

(I'll keep the names anonymous because I'm not sure if they want them put out there or not, but they know who they are!!

Mine was a gift from my wife a few years back. I love photography and my wife went through some of my pictures, picked one, had it enlarged and professionally framed.

Forgiveness from my family and bf. They forgived me for all the bad horrible things I had done in my life and have helped me to move past it and themselves have moved past it. BF and I still have our rough moments but instead of them being moments where we feel like we are trying to jump across the Grand Canyon, they are little tiny speed bumps.

As for physical things, it has to be BF giving me the opportunity to have all my babies. He took a job from someone he couldnt stand to make enough money for me to get Franklin. He let me fill our house with kitties even though he never wanted pets in the first place. You know what, I have to change that bf is the best gift ever. He indulges me random whims and does everything he can to make me happy even if he goes about it backwards. He is easily the best person I know, even if he is a gruff grumpy butt most of the time, thats just how he is and Ive learned to not take it personally its just how he is.
