How much dry?

I have two cats, one is adult (12 lbs) and the other is almost 4 months (6 lbs). At the moment, one can (5.5 or 6 oz) of wet food per day is all I can afford between them (so ~ 3 oz per cat per day). How much dry food should I supplement this wet food with? The TOTW dry food says feed 1/2 a cup per day if doing a full dry diet.

I can't simply do grazing because that's what I do right now, and they always end up eating too much dry food overnight and they barely touch their wet food in the morning. What I do now is feed them half a can of wet at noon, then when I take their plates away at 1pm, I pour them each 1/4 cup dry. Their second wet meal comes between midnight and 1am, with 1/4 cup of dry put in their bowls before I go to bed. It's much more economical to use less dry food than it is to throw away excess wet food every day, so any help figuring this out would be appreciated: both by me and my wallet.

what brands of wet are you using?

1/2 cup plus 3 oz seems on target ... maybe try 1/3 cup dry instead of 1/2

I mostly feed merrick (mostly regular with some BG), though I have been branching out to wellness CORE and I feed SD culinary creations rarely because it's crack to them. I will try lowering to 1/3 per day. I always think my cats are hungry when I see their empty food bowls because they follow me to the kitchen and kind of stare at me expectantly. I guess I'll just have to toughen them (by which I mean myself) up a bit, since wet food is more expensive so I'd rather have them eat all of that if I'm buying it for them rather than gorge on cheaper dry food and waste wet.
