Your actual keyboard is fine. What happened is likely that your default layout got switched - to what, I have no clue. When you boot back into linux (mint still, correct?) go to your settings > keyboard. Check the layout... yes, I'm aware you'll probably find a list of everything imaginable in there. Try to find what matches up closely to what you're using and select it. Baring that something like Generic 105 (etc) key may work.
Do post back if it was on something weird.

And if that doesn't fix it.
The other possibility is that if you updated lately (which you do need to do from time to time) that something might have changed your locale and caused a keyboard layout switch.
(I had a perl update months ago that wiped out my locale settings, I had to go in and fix them)
I'm really curious what could cause such a drastic change in layout that it did that on here.
