Take her to the vet - bet you a dollar she's got impacted anal glands. If so, the vet can express them (it's a fairly low cost procedure - I think my vet charges about $15). They can teach you to do it yourself, but most folks seem to prefer the vet to do it.

Honestly,do try to get her in soon - I think it's important to find out what's going on, and if it is impacted glands, they will only get worse with time. If it's not, you want to get the right treatment. And she's really uncomfortable, and I know you don't want that.

Both of mine have had impacted glands...that carpet dragging is a classic symptom.

Depends on why she was doing it. Anal glands issue, worms, or could be stool stuck to her furr - which could be a one off.

When i cleaned her afterwards i did find some peices of litter stuck back there,so hopong that was it??? Ive never heard of a cat with the anal gland issue,i thought that was just dogs??? If this is the case she is due 2-3 weeks for a nail trim,is it waitable? Or is it serious?

If she continues to scoot across the ground, she could injure the anal glands themselves due to them already being swollen and impacted (if that's the problem). If she doesn't scoot, impacted anal glands do not pose a direct health hazard.

It's more common in cats than dogs, but does happen with cats (I've got two that have had their glands expressed).

Why not call the vet and ask - maybe the whole appointment could be pushed up a bit?

We have long-hair cats that will sometimes scoot because they still have stuff sticking to their britches.

Anal gland disease is a common problem in cats and dogs. The anal glands, also called 'anal sacs,' can become impacted, infected, and abscessed. Affected pets may lick the anal area, 'scoot' along the floor, or have problems with defecation.
