But this just warms my heart.

The baby's first word (besides Dada and Mama) was Kitty. The next was dog; which still comes out "Dahhh" more than anything; but I can tell that is what she is trying to say.

She never met my dog Tasha; who passed last November while I was pregnant with her. I'd had Tasha since I was 13 (she lived with my parents). Recently I was looking through an old thumb drive and found this old desktop I used to have at work, so I put it up on my computer here:

Whenever the baby sees this she gets SUPER excited and will often say dog. She's around another dog at my parent's and at her god-mom's; and sees them in her books and on some of her videos. But she doesn't get as excited as she does when she sees Tasha. Now the boarder around the picture might help or something; but I know she's focused on Tasha since she says dog so much when she sees it.

I was really sad when Tasha passed. She'd been sickly and weak for so long; but honestly she looked pretty good right till the day she passed. She'd looked worse before. So it was unexpected in a way. But now my little one seems to have some kind of connection or at least a special affection for a picture of a dog she never saw in person. Maybe she remembers me being with Tasha; like they know the sound of the voice of the people around them before they are born. I don't really know; and I don't really care what the explanation is; I'm just glad for it.

OMG, Tasha looks like just the SWEETEST dog ever. I'm glad your baby enjoys animals as much as you do. She will always have a friend in life!

Tasha's on "the other side," and your baby came from there not very long ago... Maybe Tasha comes to visit you sometimes, and your baby has seen her, and recognizes her in the picture.
Thanks for posting your sweet story.

Tasha was beautiful! And what a great story! She's going to grow up just like her mama!

That's great that you made another animal lover. The world would be a better place if everyone was!
Tasha does look like a sweet dog.

Thanks everyone.
It's so fun to watch my own little one start to show her personality and things.

That's a lovely story. I wonder how long it'll be before she's begging for a dog, too?

She'll have to convince her father and be big enough to clean the yard! LOL!
