On my daily walk, i can see on the streets and sidewalks up to 6 cats if I am having a good day of cat spotting.

In the Uk we have few feral cats, most cats have collars and their owners let them out.

None here in the US, not where I live anyway (suburbs). In Bulgaria, there are a lot.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
We live in a rural area and care for a colony. We have

Mommy (spayed now) - her kittens were taken into the foster network and adopted out.

Stray - turned out she was already spayed, but she acts more feral than all of them.
"Son of Charlie" (neutered) We think our Chumley might have been his dad, before we got Chum (renamed from Charlie) neutered - and now living inside full time with us.
"Cousin of Charlie" (neutered) - similar tabby markings, but showed up around the same time as Chumley and seems to be the same age. Maybe a brother though.

Baby (neutered) - the cutest little gray tabby - all filled out nicely for Winter.
Orange & White Boy (neutered)

We thought there were two that showed up in the past week that needed trapping - so far I'm calling them The Two Tabbies (both gray/white tabbies - appear to have been born earlier this year). ...but today two more newbies showed up at the feeder. The most GORGEOUS little black kitty, and a large buff kitty that I assume is a boy, because he looks like he's been around the block a few times and his ears are pretty ragged.

So... six already fixed, and within the past week, another four that need to be trapped and fixed.
This year, we removed... seven that the foster network were able to take and get adopted out.
(They don't have resources to socialize ferals - have to be strays or kittens).

We stopped naming the ferals. We'd hoped it would help us get less attached and worry about them less. It doesn't seem to be working.

Orange kitty...I see him daily, he comes for food and snuggles. I just can't take another cat in the house right now. I love and worry about him if he is late coming around.

I also have Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla, my opossum who comes to eat sometimes.

We have about 5 cats that I see walk through my yard at night. Now that we have cameras up around the house, we see lots of animals. These cats I don't think are feral. I know where 1 of them lives. I think the others are just outdoor cats as well. They don't hang together. They all walk by alone, but usually with in an hour of each other. Usually late at night like the am hours. There's 1 all black 1 with 1 back paw that's all white. He's huge! I never saw a cat that big before. If I owned him, I'd have named him Panther.

Tons. Here in Japan they are called 'mura neko' or village cats. People here tend to regard dogs (if they have pets, most apartments do not allow) as the pet and it lives inside with the family, but the cats are treated much as barn cats were in the USA up until a few decades ago and let roam outside.

TNR is not practiced here exept where it has been brought in by foreigners, see The Japan Cat Network.

I recently moved close to a large public park and there are gangs of semi-ferals. All to my knowledge unneutered. There are people who come a feed them so they know how beg and will approach if they suspect you have or are offering food.

On my daily bike ride I see about a dozen of these 'regulars'. I won't give them meals but do bring cat treats.

I don't see any strays. I do see 2 of my neighbours cats, a choc spotted Oriental who goes out for a little while each day and is scared of strangers. Also a bi colour domestic who is out pretty much all day and into the evening, he's very friendly and I always give him scritches when we meet.

There is a beautiful orange and I mean really orange, he's gorgeous (I must get a pic of him) kitty that comes in our garden alot, he is really big and wears a collar, I only see him during the day so he must be an outdoor cat when his owners go to work.
The road at the back of us there is a woman who has a black cat called Suzi, she comes in our garden alot, to be honest too much, the woman obviously doesn't care but not much I can do as she looks well fed just outside too much.
I noticed another small black kitty a few weeks ago and she was heavily pregnant, she looked like a kitten herself but I haven't seen her since.
Every day we see Tinker the cat I posted pics of a while ago, I know where she lives and she is outdoors while her owners work but while its been really cold I haven't seen her so she must be in.
There is a cat called Whisky who is a gorgeous big silver tabby boy who follows his meowmy to school everyday when she takes and collects her kids, she lives right opposite the school.x

I see the two ferals I feed every morning and evening. Sometimes I'll see a feral orange kitty but he usually avoids the house if we're around. When I come home from work I'll see a cat sitting on the porch down the street from us, she looks so soft and gorgeous!

At work I occasionally see a stray cat or abandoned cat. There's a lady there who feeds them. Two days ago I saw a fluffy black cat similar to the one I feed at home.

Usually a couple of the four that live around here. The neighbors directly across the street from me have three front declawed indoor/outdoor cats. There's also another light seal point DLH that someone around here cares for - he's fat and neutered. He tries to come talk me out of food.

Plus I have my two fenced in outdoor cats.

If I drive around town I'll see more as it's normal for cats to be indoor/outdoor or completely outdoor were I live.

We had a cat problem in our complex a whaile ago.

Before we moved there theyhad mice, so they brought cats to get rid of the mice. That worked but by the time we moved in there were a bunch of feral cats around.Behind my townhouse is an alley that leads to the other block behind us where my wifes aunt lives.

a few times my wife would go walking with our dog to visit her aunt & there would be a bunch of cat stalking my wife & our 65lb bulldog back there. It looked like something out of a horror movie.

About a year ago we got together with Cat Network & rounded up a bunch of cats to get spayed/neutered so atleast they wouldn't keep reproducing. In one weekend we trapped over 40 cats & almost 30 the following weekend.

The feral cat population in our neighborhood has died down a bit, but now we have a new generationof cats that are not fixed. We may have to go on another Cat Network mission soon.

2 everyday and 1 maybe every month
Cutie is a lovely cat who NO ONE could trap(ac,neighbors) I got her into my house by opening a window and scruffed/caged her. Spayed and released.

Willy(son to cutie). Oh what a lovely cat he is now. BUT I trapped him in a cage with a string tied to the door, transfered to a dog crate and waited the longest week of my life(and smelly!) Hes so my baby now weaves legs allows me to pet and pick him up a bit to. I don't want to know what the vet staff went through with him.

Lily is the suspected daughter but shes in house after a double spay(had to be sure as last thing I needed was more kittens) shes sweet from the start was terrified for a minute then realized this is great. Neighbor says she was away for few years so guessing someone moved and left herbehind

And then theres untrappable. Big black and white looks like one of mine so when I see him I freak a few seconds till I double check. He shows up so infrequently I fear I never will get him. I know hes up there in age.

Traps are not working anymore cause Cutie(when shes here) Willy, Misty and Tommy trip them. Pigs

I see 6 - 8 just on our block on any given day, as most of our neighbors allow their cats to go outdoors. We have catnip in our backyard, so cats drop by from spring until late fall. There are a couple who come from farther afield, but not every day.

Several and one dog who does have a collar but roams. I know where this dog lives, I have ideas of where the cats live too (not all the same house). They are someone's pets but they are left to roam as well.

There's none around here, not in our neighborhood anyway. It's a real contrast to when we lived in Austin, they were everywhere, it was tough! And my sister in Houston has 6 strays that she feeds (trapped them all and had them neutered on "neuter by donation day" that happens every February). She's got 4 in the back yard, and 2 in the front, and she's allergic to cats but her family loves them up, they aren't that wild anymore.

Maybe one or two....and I think they really do have homes, but they're not allowed to be indoors.
