My sons cat, Shadow, is at the vet due to not being able to move his bowels. He is on fluids now and will have an enema possibly two. They did an x ray, and it is not as bad as originally thought.

They mentioned Miralax to use at home.

Anyone used this and what are your thoughts on it. Shadow is about 11 or so and not a very active cat. Typical older, sedentary cat. But a nice old fellow.

Thanks.

We give Sven Miralax twice a day -1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon mixed with a little water, and it has been a Godsend. Much better than prescription drugs for his constipation. He is so regular now it's unbelievable. Nice, soft stools. I swear by the stuff.

May take a couple of days to kick in, but once he's on it, my advice is to keep him on it if he has a regularity problem.

Yes, I used this on Boo (rip) and now on Chickster, she is having constipation problems too. It's gentle and I also recommend it. And of course double check with the vet about dosage but what previous poster said is what I give, 1/4 teaspoon mixed with a little water, put into a syringe and squirted into the mouth. She doesn't mind it. It's not bitter.

Oh good, thanks guys. Poor Shadow. I got to the house yesterday to get the grandkids off the bus, and knew he was in distress. This has been an ongoing fight.

My son sue loves that Shadow boy. Hope this ends this nasty problem that hits our senior kitties.

Thanks again!
