About a week ago, I could accurately call my 6 month old kitten a total nut. Now, heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s completely different. Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ve only had him for about two months, but as of last week, he was chewing, biting, meowing for no reason, darting from room to room, never sitting still, etc. I suspected he was teething, because his breath started to STINK and his gums looked a bit irritated in the back. Also, a few weeks prior, the vet had said that he still had his baby teeth, which was why the vets kept placing him at about 5 ½ months old both times I visited them with him over a month apart.

Last Wednesday night, my boyfriend and I were getting ready for a 5-day vacation over Thanksgiving. We were bringing him to my momâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s house a half hour away (which heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s visited once before). Anyway, he was very happy for those 5 days. My mom was off for the holiday, so he was almost always home with someone. Even late at night, when my brother would come home after being out, my cat would be excited to have someone to play with that late while my mom was sleeping.

I came back on Monday night to pick Tony up. When he saw me, he looked like he had just woken up, but I knew he recognized me, because he started purring (He purrs in the morning when I wake up and also when I get home from work). We put him in his carrier and drove him home.

He was VERY bent out of shape about the drive home. Normally, he meows for the first 10 minutes or so and then quiets down. This time, he seemed as thought he was in complete distress the whole entire way home. It was breaking my heart, but I was driving, so I couldnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t do anything. I did try talking to him, but he was just too upset.

Anyway, once we got him home, he was fine. However, since having him home the past couple of days, heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s like an entirely different cat! He will sit and relax with me in the evenings, either on or next to the sofa. Heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s much less vocal and he even seems a little less hungry. He still has a great appetite, but not quite as big as it was before. He doesnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t bite anymore or chew on anything. Heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s just… calm. Heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s still playful if you initiate play with him, but heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s not aggressive or anything anymore.

Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m wondering if heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s just feeling better, because heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s not teething anymore? Or if heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s depressed/lonely? Or if he liked it at my momâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s better and misses it? I canâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t figure out why his demeanor is so different so suddenly, and I want to celebrate it, but I also want to be sure that everythingâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s okay.

He seems perfectly healthy, but I guess any time you see a difference in behavior you question why.

Ideas? Experiences?

I don't know what's going on, but can your mom borrow my cat for a week? She's insane! And about 4.5 - 5 months old. I never thought about teething!
