Hello! I've been lurking on the site, gathering lots of great knowledge and insight, for several months. Wilbur is my "little" fella... he's just over 5 months now and weighs in at 9.2 lbs. I adopted him from a family friend at 10 weeks, and he is my first cat (not to mention my first pet ever in 23 years of life!). I have been converted!

I felt compelled to post today and finally introduce Wilbur with a few photos. I actually just dropped him off at the vet this a.m. to be fixed, and although I know how safe and routine it is, I am still being a nervous new parent today.

I picked Wilbur's name based on Charlotte's Web--my very favorite childhood book. When I brought him home at 10 weeks, I was so excited to say: "Let's go home, Wilbur. Let's go home." For those of you unfamiliar with Charlotte's Web, that is a quote from a great scene at the end of the story. Today, he is such a Wilbur and I cannot picture him as anything else! He fit his name instantly.

I hope my pics work...

First night home!
And a few more recent:

What an adorable orange kitty!
Glad he's fine and your vet sounds like a cool person. Welcome to TCS! We're glad to have you here. I vaguely remember a few things about Charlotte's Web. One was an upbeat song Zuckerman's Famous Pig and towards the end one of the pig's final question to the spider was Why did you help me? And the spider said something like Because you were my friend. Oh goodness I can't think about it because it was so pure it makes me cry. But I found it a superb movie, even as an adult.

He looks like a Wilbur. Very cute.

My favorite character from Charlotte's Web is Templeton. But I wouldn't name a cat after him.

Oh, agreed wholeheartedly! Templeton is a great character, but perhaps not the best cat name. The family that I adopted Wilbur from kept one of his little grey sisters from the litter. They liked my name choice so much, they named her Charlotte.

Thank you for saying hello. I'm liking this forum already.

Hey there,
welcome to the forum! Wilbur is adorable, he actually kind of looks like Wilbur the pig,
except a lot more like a cat! I love the book Charlotte's Web, and have read it a bunch of times. So glad that his neuter went well. Anyway, welcome, I hope you enjoy posting!

Eileen

P.S. LOVE the first picture!

P.S.S. He kind of reminds me of Wessie.

Thank you, Eileen! The first photo was literally from his first night home with me. I think he looks very stuffed animal-ish!

I agree... he and Wessie look like two peas in a pod. Wessie is about as adorable as they come! Thank you for your warm welcome. I cannot WAIT to have Wil back in the apartment... he'll stay overnight with the vet.

Anyway, hello and good to meet you!
