I see ads for this product and wonder if it works. My CRF cat Dusty, 8 yrs., isn't as spry as she used to be. She needs help jumping up on the bed - a chair or the chest at the foot of the bed.

I believe this product contains glucosemine and condroitan (sp?) which has been touted as a joint medicine for humans. However I remember seeing an article that said there is no proof that these medicines actually work.

So I'm wondering if anyone here has used this for their cats, and what the success rate might be.

We've used it with Callie for about 5 years now. We've had very good results. We used to only give it to her during the cooler weather, but over time, she's come to need it daily. It does continue to help her, though.

We're using it on our 15 year old CRF cat, Sven too. Just started it about a month ago, after having used Liquid Max for about a year and hearing that Cosequin is much better. Now he's chasing the others around and back to jumping up on the counters, etc. Just this morning I watched him jump up on the bathroom counter!

Wow, this is good to know. Do you use liquid or powder? Does it taste good to kitties? How do you administer it?

Oh, and do you buy it online or at PetSmart?

I get the capsules that are chicken flavored. At least I think they're chicken flavored. I just open the capsule and dump it in Callie's wet food. Stir and serve. I've accidentally put one in Hannah's bowl a couple of times and she's never turned her nose up at it either.

Cosequin for cats is terrific for arthritis, in most cats. When I started Ootay
on it at age 11, it was a very dramatic improvement. By the time she was 17 though, it did loose effectiveness for her, her pain just was beyond what the cosequin could do.

Yes just sprinkle the capsule over the food. Most cats like it. Ootay, picky lady that she was, would not eat her food that way, so I had to just pill her with the capsule intact, went right down. Mazy (who takes it for FLUTD) likes it.

However, next time I have a cat with arthritis I am going to give them laser therapy. It's amazing. Non invasive, no drugs, no pain. And it's not all that expensive, I looked into it. $41 for three treatments at my vet. I wish that had been available for my Ootay

Here is the system my clinic uses:

My Sven doesn't appear to like the texture or taste or something about the powder of the Cosequin, so I mix it in a some water first (about a tablespoon), then mix that into his wet food. Otherwise, sometimes, if he's not into eating his wet food, I mix the Cosequin into about 1 1/2 cc water and give it to him via needleless syringe directly into his mouth.

Oh yes, I buy it where I can find it for the best deal. First time I bought it I got it at Petco, 2nd time I got it on-line.
