She had surgery Monday, She slept the rest of the day and night. Tuesday I offered her some wet food and she turned her nose up at it and went back to bed. This morning she ate a few bites of hard food. She's pooping and peeing Ok and drinking plenty of water. Should I be worried?
Before I got her she NEVER got wet food--only that meow mix crap. I want to start getting her off that junk, but want to wait until she's fully recovered from this operation.

I must have missed something. What kind of surgery did Emmy have?

For a cat, any food is better than no food. so if you think she will eat crappy kibble, for now, give it to her. When she is fully recovered you can start the food transition again.

She had a lump removed and sent for biopsy.

I'd give her whatever she'll eat for now....it's more important to try to have her eat something.

Wait before you get her off the dry food just yet. If that's the only food she'll eat. Give it to her, believe me it's better she eats something than nothing.

If she's happy with Meow Mix, I'd say let her eat the Meow Mix and don't think of changing for a few months, maybe - unless just to offer her 'better' stuff to see if she'll take it. She's had a lot of changes in her life lately and honestly I wouldn't change either her food or her litter at this point.

She may not be hungry just in the aftermath of the surgery - but maybe call the vet just to be sure (there's a Hills prescription food that they'll sometimes prescribe for cats that aren't eating much- I got a few cans when Dharma was on clavamox).

Honestly, I really wouldn't overly worry about dry versus wet, or Meow Mix versus anything else - as long as she's eating the stuff, that's what counts. My guy with crystals doesn't care for wet - so we do mostly CD dry - and he, and the vet, are ok with that. Better he's happy eating the food than trying to force him to eat wet, I think.

If she's on post-surgery antibiotics, they could be making her a little sick to her stomach. My guys never want to eat when they are on antibiotics. Don't know if that's the situation, but just a thought.

Spooky didn't want to eat much for a couple of days after her dental, and she had no teeth pulled, just cleaned. I wouldn't worry too much about it yet, but I do agree - feed her the meow mix and worry about the transition later.

Try offering her some tuna or tuna juice. Most cats can't resist a good fishy fish.

Pandora was very weird after her surgery, too. She wouldn't touch her wet food and would only nibble at the dry food a little. I agree with mrsgreenjeans, she's probably just not feeling very well right now. Just give her whatever kibble she will eat. I hope she feels better soon! ~hugs~

Or very plain chicken or other meat baby food - without onion or garlic - that goes over well in my house. I'd really keep the Meow Mix available to her, and just offer other treats/good to see if she's interested. Let us know what's happening.

Oh dear, where have I been? I missed this somehow too, I am so glad Emmy is eating now, sometimes even if we don't like the food we give our kitties they seem to like it, my cats have to have what Billy can eat and just like it
as he has a sensitive stomach and can only eat one type of wet and one type of dry, goodness knows what I will do if another of them has a problem. I am just so happy for you that you baby is eating again.xx

I'm glad to hear Emmy is doing better. Give the sweet heart a kiss from me.
