FINALLY!! I know most of you remember what we went through with Genesis. For new members, you can find her story here: http://www.thecatsite.com./forums/sh...d.php?t=220895
She was a little Angel that passed through our lives. We loved her and took her into our hearts, but we didn't get to keep her. Her terrible situation was the inspiration for our Against Animal Abuse ribbon that we now have in our shop option
On March 14 @ 9 am her murderer will be in court facing FELONY animal abuse charges resulting in the death of an animal from neglect and/or torture.
Both my vet and landlord have received summons to appear in court. I'm hoping to get my summons any day. Genesis was a murder victim and deserves justice. And it sound like it's going to be an all out trial, doesn't it? I wanted to let you all know. You all loved her as much as I did, and we shared tears when she left this world.

I wish I could go to court with you in support for that sweet little kitty. I am going to mark it on the calendar.

Be proud. You were instrumental in getting justice for her.

I hope she gets a severe punishment. I probably shouldn't be there on second thought.....no doubt I'd end up being charged with assault.

Thats brilliant news and the **** deserves nothing less than to be tried as if she had murdered a human being. I am so happy that you have done this for Genesis and I hope we get justice for her so she can R.I.P. Please keep us updated all the way, sending huge vibes xx

I truly hope dear Genesis will be avenged, and that this trial will prevent other animals from suffering as she did. I have to say, however, don't get your hopes up. If the jury was made up of people from TCS, the woman would fry. As it is, she'll probably get off with a slap on the wrist. It wouldn't surprise me if her lawyer manages to get the charges reduced.
Geez, I sound like such a pessimist, don't I? I wish everyone that neglects or abuses an animal was made to suffer just as much as their victim. It just doesn't happen, tho.
Will keep my fingers crossed that the justice system does the right thing.

A red letter day. Wouldn't it be wonderful if this sets a precedent for other abuse and abandonment cases. If that happens, Genesis's death would not have been in vain, it will be her legacy.

When the time comes, if it makes the news, I hope you will give us the links. You might want to check on how much you can talk about it before it is over, you don't want to mess things up by sharing info before things are done.

I will absolutely let you all know what kind of publicity this brings. And you made a very good point--I won't talk too much about it until it's over. I promise! But you guys HAD to know!

That everything works out and the horrible person who caused her death gets what she deserves.

Wow - FELONY charges! Cheryl, you played such an important part in making this happen for Genesis! Do you know what the maximum penalty(ies) she could face are? Whatever it/they are - I know it's not enough. But I know I'll be praying she gets the max, because Genesis deserves that.
I know Libby74 is probably right...

...but I'm just glad that selfish, evil **** is even being brought up on the charges - FELONY charges, you know? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheryl, I just read the past threads about Genesis. It tears me up with anger that this girl did this to this innocent, helpless cat. Bless you so much for taking action and I pray this girl gets everything thrown at her in court. You have all of our support here on this and I pray this girl suffers and pays dearly for this cruelty. to you as you go to court to testify, may Genesis' death not be in vain.....

I just saw this post and read your first post about Genesis. I was trying to tell my husband about it but was getting so choked up words wouldn't come out. I still have tears rolling out of my eyes.
You are an amazing person for everything you did for that poor sweet cat. I wish there were more people like you in this world.
Please keep us informed after the case has gone to court and all...I hope for the maximum punishment for this person...what they did is beyond words horrible.
for you.

I just couldn't read the entire thread you posted as I'm way beyond livid & heartsick over what that
did to poor Genesis.
I had the same thing happen to me when I still lived in Wisconsin, where an elderly lady abandoned her kitten when she moved out.
I ended up taking in the poor thing.

I hope that girl fries for what she did to poor Genesis. How can people be so cruel??

I hope everything can be accomplished in one day, and the girl gets the proverbial book thrown at her. Not to be pessimistic, but don't be surprised if she gets off with a slap on the hand. Courts don't take animal cruelty as seriously as they should (at least they don't around here); I'm afraid she'll be sentenced to a misdemeanor and a fine.
Regardless, Cheryl, you are definitely Genesis' angel. Good luck tomorrow!

Cheryl, Farleyv was asking which time zone you're in. I'm pretty sure it's East Coast time zone.

I've been concentrating vibes to you for strength and for justice for Genesis, and I'll be doing the same tomorrow.
