Yes, today marks one month my little old lady is here!
Here is how she came in:
And here she was yesterday:
She came in SO scared, hissing at me, at herself, at the kitties (well, still does, but not as loud and not as much
... Covered in fleas, skin and bones... She had lost over 2 lbs since June, and was for 6 months out of her thyroid medicine
... She was left outside even though she was declawed... Winter is coming, it is on the 30s here in Dallas at night time... She was eating Meow Mix, now she is eating 2 small cans of wet food a day, plus Z/D (not Wonderful, I know, but she had to get on the house schedule because of Bugsy and Hope - her wet is regular though)... She had difficulty breathing.
Now she has gained weight, her fur is getting shiny again, she has no fleas, I can no longer feel her spine on her back
She is super sweet with me... Loves to be loved, combed, and loves the laser light! Her breathing is back to normal...
Even though she is not roaming the house, she is sleeping on her bed in the open, and is hiding under my desk less and less...
We had a magical moment today - Kelly, my vet tech and pet sitter came over to meet her as I am going out of town tomorrow, to meet Gracie and to get familiar with her medication, food, etc. I thought she was going to hiss at Kelly, but on the contrary, Kelly started petting her, and she came out of her hiding place and started to have a conversation with Kelly! Meowing, purring, head butting, and rubbing all over her!
Kelly and I sat down and Gracie stayed with us in the office, out in the open, just going back and forth, enjoying all the attention and the love, purring so loud I couldn't believe!
We pulled the laser light and she played like a one year old!
That kitty is just such a people's cat!
Bugsy and Lucky approached, and she didn't bother... Just stayed...
It was soooo nice!
Kelly was amazed how well she was doing - last time she saw her, she was still living outside, doing really badly... She said she looks like a different cat!
That's my girl!
I just hope she keeps improving like this!
Kelly is going to spend the night here tomorrow, so the kitties are not going to be lonely... I am so relieved about that... The kitties love her, and she loves them; it just makes me feel 100x better about going out of town!
By the way, I know it is not a big deal for a lot of people, one moth gotcha day... But this one has been a huge deal for us... So sorry if I made a big deal out of this.... And thanks for being there for us!
