It never ends! Just when we get all the hoarding cats safe I get an email from a lady that I know through dog rescue saying that they have a 1 year old longhair munchkin male that someone needs to place either in foster care or as a permanent adoptive home.

They have said that the cat is all up to date on shots and is neutered, a very healthy boy but the woman got the cat, the husband never wanted it and now he wants him gone or else. We're thinking about fostering him for now, possibly keeping him if he's with us long enough for our financial situation to get better. Apparently, all vet care will be covered while fostering (although I'm not sure by whom because I had gone through them while trying to get help with the hoarding cats/kittens).

To the point - are there any specific health issues that I should worry about with short legged cat breeds? I've read conflicting things about pretty much everything - some say that they can have the same problem as our dachshunds, others say that the bone structure is different in cats backs so they won't have any problems other than not being able to jump as high.

He is apparently also pretty skittish, we were thinking about baby gating him in our bedroom (even though I'm allergic) when the dogs are out so that he can sniff them and come out if he wants. When the dogs are crated then he will have free access to the apartment. This is what we did with Stan and it worked well, but he was also not skittish at all.

I'm mainly concerned about any health issues, I have a feeling that because of his skittishness he will be with us a long time and we will end up adopting him but we really want to try to avoid getting another lemon pet if we can, which is why I posted in this topic - feel free to move it if you think it fits somewhere else.
