Some may remember that Dusty nearly died several months ago. She has CRF and also had a horrible ear infection that nearly killed her. Well she recovered from that.
So here is the curious part. Dusty has gained weight. I don't know how much, but I no longer feel her backbone and the shape of every vertebrae like I did back when she was really sick and we were talking about where we would bury her. Her gums look better too - not nearly as white as when she was really anemic. I've been feeding her raw chicken liver a couple of times a week. But here is the really odd thing. She has a big appetite - eats at least one 5.5 oz. can of cat food a day plus grazes on the dry kibble. Even in her younger years before she was diagnosed with CRF she never ate that much! - Maybe 1 can of Fancy Feast (3 oz) a day and sometimes less.
She is a DLH, and while her fur is getting thick for winter, I notice it doesn't shine as much as it used too. Back when she was sick, her fur fell out, especially around her neck and behind her ears where it was completely bald. All that has grown back now.
She still can't jump as much or as high as she used to. And she has never been a playful kitty. Nothing has changed there.
I know that CRF can't be reversed or cured, but my question is to what do you attribute her weight gain? And why is her appetite so much bigger? What does this all mean?
I'm confused.
