This little girl and another were dumped in the spring of this year. I fed them all spring and summer, trying to figure out what to do with them.

Unfortuantely, the black male disappeared in August.

I brought in this female, who has been dubbed "Chicken Parm" by my youngest sister, In September when the weather started getting cold at night. She still goes out in the day the odd time because she prefers to use the bathroom outside.

I unfortunately cannot keep her. I've been putting it off, and putting it off.. but I can't do it anymore. I can't afford to take her to a vet, and she needs to see one. She has this odorless yellow/white goo coming from her lady bits. I thought it was an infection, but she's had it for months now and nothing has changed. Her energy level is still high and she eats and drinks like normal. She has always had this for as long as I have been feeding her outside as well.
But I can barely afford to take my own cats to the vet when they need it.. so I can definitely not keep her any longer.

I have contacted rescues in my area, and all are full.. or never even got back to me.

I'm looking for anything anywhere for this lovely lady to go.

She's good with medium/small dogs. I'm not sure with anything bigger. She is ok with my cats.. but the only time she sees them is when she comes from the room shes in upstairs to go outside. She is never with my cats for more than a few minutes and never unattended.

She's also good with kids. Very friendly and loving. She sleeps with me every single night. Shes very young.. by her teeth I say no more than 2 - 2 and a half.

She deserves to have a good home that can take her to the vet and let her have free roam of the house instead of being confined to a room.

Maybe you could try to raise the money to take her to a vet while you are waiting to find her a home. It's probably going to take a while.
Most likely it is some sort of infection and she will need antibiotics to clear it up. A visit to the vet and a prescription for antibiotics shouldn't be too much.
Is she spayed? That would probably help.

It's really hard to find placement for a cat as all shelters and rescues are full. But if you are able to keep the cat in your home you may want to contact rescues and local shelters to see if they can help you with vet care and finding her a home if you foster her. Space is usually one of the biggest problems for rescues and shelters. Be persistent.

You could also put out ads on sites like Craigslist and Kijiji with some good info and some cute pics.

I've been advertising her on Kijiji since the spring when she came around.

A vet visit alone, without the antibitioc shot and pills, (duplicilin is like $30, not including the pills) would be around $80 to just walk in the door. I make around $200 a week, with rent and bills to pay and barely get by.

I used to work in a shelter... for 5 years. I know how hard it is to home them. But it blows my mind that only ONE organization out of 6 even got back to me. I was always answering emails.

Hi Leto,

I'm a bit confused when you say the discharge is coming from her 'lady bits'. Would that be her nipples or a vaginal discharge? If it's a vaginal discharge it would be best to try and get her spayed if she hasn't been already. Can you check to see if there is a spay scar? Here's some info that might be helpful.

If its coming from her nipples it could be an infection, a thyroid condition or possibly breast cancer. Can you feel any lumps? Do you know if she had a litter? Are or were her nipples prominent as if she nursed kittens? If there is nothing you can do to afford vet care, then maybe the kindest thing would be to take her to a shelter. If anyone in the household is a senior, disabled, HIV/Aids or in some type of gov't program such as food stamps, etc., there could be low cost or free vet care, so let us know.

Can you afford to get her spayed?

This site says it's for dogs, but it's for cats too. Scroll down for your area. You can also visit their sites to see if they have any info on low cost vets or s/n projects.

The low cost clinic is about $80 for a spay and they won't do it without proof of vaccinations. So I'd get vaccs too at $50.

She's never had a litter for as long as I've been feeding her. The male she was dumped with was also neutered so I'm assuming she's spayed. She's also never came into a heat that I have noticed. I can try and look for a spay scar but I'll need to wait till I have people to help hold her down as she doesn't like to be held.

The discharge is coming from her vagina. It is completely odorless. I've seen dozens of cats with pyometra and you can definitely smell that, so I'm not really worried about that too much. She doesn't lick the area any more often than any of my cats lick theirs. She still eats, drinks, uses the litterbox the same as a normal cat. Has even put on weight since I've been feeding her... she was emaciated when I started feeding them. The black male was worse than she was and even had a hematoma ear.

The shelter is not accepting cats at this time. Actually haven't been for months.

I have already contacted all the rescues in the area from that site. In the area, I mean that won't take long to get to, I don't drive and not many places are willing to come pick up. I can get family or friends to drive me.. but not far.

I'm coming to think I'm going to be stuck with her for a long time. I'm not even allowed to have anymore animals. I still have the last foster that I promised I'd rehome.. but it's been impossible due to behavorial issues. I also got him vacc'd and neutered. Had him since he was 7 days old.

I'll get a tax refund in the spring. Probably around $800.. and could do everything then. I just hate having to leave her that long.

My guess would be she has been spayed if you didn't see prominent nipples when she first appeared. She may have vaginitis and that could lead to problems if not treated. She's already had it for quite a while.

You mentioned the low cost clinic. Is there any way you could take here there for a rabies shot and treatment of this? I don't know what the laws are for shots for cats, but here the minimum is a rabies shot. They most likely would not spay her with this infection anyway. Then they could tell if she's spayed or not.

the low cost clinic only does vaccinations and spays/neuters. I think Rabies is the only one manditory here.. but most clinics will not give just the rabies anymore. I tried last time I got a stray fixed. They won't do examinations. I tried that too when I found a kitten that was attacked by a dog.

Maybe you can call your regular vet and ask what they would charge to give only a rabies shot and do an exam for possible vaginitis. Sometimes vets will give discounts for multiple pet owners or if the animal is a rescue, which this is. Mine does for both. You might even be able to get a prescription that you can take to a pharmacy for less cost then it would be at the vet. I always ask. Most vets don't mind if they know you are on a very tight budget and want to do what is best for the animal.
