I'll be the first one to admit that I've not always been a fan of black cats. I think they're lovely and deserve wonderful, forever homes. But, they've never been the first cats that I'm drawn to.
But, obviously, I've been very wrong. When I look at this thread, my heart is warmed by all of the beautiful, unique, and special kitties looking back at me. And, it is then that I wish I could reach in through the screen of my laptop and cuddle and snuggle each one of the gorgeous (and handsome!) black beauties whose pictures are in this thread. And, surprising as it may be, I am instantly drawn to each one of these kitties and find myself yearning for a black cat of my own. Not now, of course, but one day. But, in the meantime, please keep sharing your pics. I, for one, can't wait to see more of these wonderful cats!

Here are a few pictures of my sweet little Velvet
I've had her since I was a little girl and she is by far the best kitty I've ever owned! She's still just as affectionate today as she was as a tinsy little kitten
(At a fundraiser for one of the shelters I used to work with. She was the only cat that day prissing around on a harness/leash and didn't mind all of the dogs there at all!)
Every box or basket she sees, she quickly claims for herself haha
(not happy momma woke her up in this one hahaha..ahh the cattitude!)
She was soo busy stealing the makeup out of my bag that she fell asleep hahaha

Why is it that our black kitties are all so shiny? My DLH bi-color isn't that shiny.
I have two BEAUTIFUL black kitties. They started out as fosters that I got at 5 days old with siblings and mom, to help with my 4 bottle babies. My male short hair, B.C., I adopted when he was 5 months old, as our rescue had about 10 just like him. My female long hair, was adopted out with her sister, a long hair tabby, and returned as being too high maintenance, so I am keeping both of them, also.

Do you have a Photobucket account or Flickr or Snapfish? They all have free accounts where you can upload pictures. Once the pictures are uploaded, you will see about 4 lines of text under each one. Click on the one that begins withOriginally Posted by judyjo6

I have loved black cats since I was little. I think almost every cat i have owned has been black.
I wanted to send a message with pictures of our charming black boy who is all of 6 to 7 weeks old and has been with us for scarcely 24 hours. But because I wrote a thread - Playing with My Kitten - and posted pictures there when I tried to add the same pictures to The Black Cat Thread I couldn't do it.
He's very cute and I'd like to have you see just HOW cute he is (he's so new we aren't sure of his name yet.) Can someone tell me how to use the same images in two different threads, or that this is not possible and I need to take more pictures.

If you click on the little mountain icon in the gray part above the box where you type your message, you can paste the image URL in the pop up box. Be sure to have your photo album page open and the link to the image URL already copied from the album site. Then just paste it into the pop up window.

He died Aug of 2009 of kidney failure
I never thought I'd want another black cat. Then Holly came around and to help out a friend we got her. She is a totally different personality than this kitty
