Should I be worried about Midnight's behavoir towards toys?

I had posted before about Midnight growling when he took a clip and ran off with it. This is different (I think).

Last night I went out and bought a swing toy to try and spend sometime with the kittens thinking it would be something the 3 of us could have fun doing together, and get me back bonding with them since I've kinda ignored them because of Lynxx.

Anyway I got them to play nicely with me and the toy. They followed it back and forth, then Luna went and layed down and watched. So I continued playing with Midnight.

Every time he caught the toy, he growled at it. He purrs very loudly his growl is 40X's louder than his purr. My mother couldn't even believe the noise was coming from him. By the time my father came out to see what we were talking about, Midnight had his ears back, and was adding hisses to his growls. My father distracted him while I took the toy away.

I've been around kittens and never seen a kitten act this way with a toy before. My father thinks that he was so involved with the toy that Midnight actually thought it was prey and that was his way of saying stay away it's mine.

Now we picked Midnight up right after, and held him. He layed in our arms purring. All the time he was growling and hissing his focus was on that toy not at us. He didn't even look at us.

Is this a sign that we're going to have problems with him? If Midnight's showing this behavior as a kitten, is he eventually going to hiss and growl at us? He's a huge kitten, he's going to become a huge cat bigger than Lynxx. We've dealt with vicious cats in the past named Mickey and Fluffy. Is he going to become like them? Lynxx didn't like Luna, but he hated Midnight. Did Lynxx sense or know something that we don't?

Your father is right. Midnight's hunting/ preying instinct kicked in. I am just curious, does the toy have feathers or fur in it? He is growling at the toy not at you...
Our Leo used to do that when we first introduced him to Da Bird. We removed it and in time he stopped doing it- we played for a while for brief times with him and the toy just so that he could get over the growling thing. His most recent growling happens now when I give him a CET treat for his teeth- these treats are huge and he is growling at it while he is chomping on it...

Yes the toy had feathers in the back end.

Ok I feel better knowing that this appears to be normal.

My cats growled quite a bit when I first introduced them to Da Bird. I agree that it's normal. (If I remember correctly, another member, maybe Kai Bengals, once posted a video of a kitten growling up a storm while playing with that toy!)
