Stewart Little

About a page back there's a thread about the series House. Someone on here posted that Hugh Laurie was in Stuart Little. I thought "no way".

Well- while I was waiting for 2 teenage girls to get ready for church (dd had a friend sleep over last night) that movie came on. And sure enough- the dad in it is Hugh Laurie. That is SUCH a different role than he's playing now.

I told dh and he said that Stuart Little's dad is like Ward Cleaver- Gregory House is the anti-Ward Cleaver

I've seen that movie more than once and never knew that either...lol

Most parts he plays outside of House are like his part in Stuart Little. There is a movie on our On Demand (kind of like non pay "pay-per-view") called Maybe Baby and he's very similar to the Stuart Little part.

I just think it's funny to hear him with his natural accent, same as with the guy from The Mentalist, who is Australian (you can hear him slip a tiny bit every once in a while if you listen carefully).

My favourite Hugh Laurie role was the prince in Black Adder - he is hilarious in that show, and very young!!!

And another actor who sometimes slips on his American accent is Linus Roache (ADA Cutter, Law & Order) - the Manchester accent comes through nice and clear sometimes. First saw him in Coronation Street where he played Peter Barlow along side his father who portrays to this day Ken Barlow. John Barrowman, another Brit, does a very fine NA accent with no slips
