So I recently adopted 2 cats from a program at Seaworld called pets rule. They are both retired performers and seniors, at ages 13 and 11. I was told they were in good health, but it's only been 2 weeks and I'm having a slew of problems.

The older cat, Onyx, has been pooping outside the litter box almost as much as he poops in it. His feces are wet and stinky, and frequent. At first I was certain it was because he was skittish about the new house, since he seemed to be taking his time adjusting, spending lots of time under beds, and hissing at the other cat, Sylvester. Eventually he came to be used to the house and Sylvester, and even the pooping on the ground stopped, so long as we could clean the litter fast enough. 3-4 times a day scooping, but even then there would be times that he would poop outside the box. And never in the same spot either, always in plain sight though. Let me emphasize that we have two litter boxes, and he has pooped outside the box even when one of the boxes was clean.

So we isolated him in one bedroom with his litter box, food and water. The first day went fine, but on the second day he pooped on the bed twice, and on the floor. And while I was in there cleaning, I heard a loud gassy emission and caught him pooping on the floor. I grabbed him and put him in the box. But he's pooping everywhere in that room, even though he was fine in there the first day. So I'm beginning to think there's something medically wrong with him, even though I was assured he was a healthy cat.

Now, Sylvester is a joy, I have never met a more friendly cat, and he took to the house instantly. But he's showing even more worrying problems. Half a week ago, I thought his stool looked a little bloody. His poops have never been wet and runny like Onyx's. I decided I'd keep a close eye on Sylvester's stools to see how that developed. But those were the last stools I saw from him. He hasn't pooped in several days. He also appears to be eating less of his dry food. After we isolated Onyx, we found a small sample of what looks like blood mingled with a white-ish translucent fluid which we can only assume came from Sylvester. He also sat on my lap and left a moist spot there that looked a little off-colored. But he has peed in his box since then. Although he didn't pee in his box today. I took him to the vet and couldn't get a concrete answer. They did prescribe me a laxative that I have begun to administer with no results yet. Behaviorally, he's as active as he was when I first brought him home, with the only change being it seems like he whines more, which makes since. It's also worth noting that Sylvester is very thin with a pronounced spine, and he likes to chew on the houseplants (we just started spraying them with bitter apple)

I am of course going to call the pets rule offices at seasworld to ask for their opinions but I could use any advice. 1 cat poops too much, the other doesn't poop enough. If only I could strike a balance. Right now I'm pulling my hair out. They are both very loving cats but I am very disappointed they are showing so many problems so soon.

IMHO it is pretty obvious there is a medical problem with the first kitty, the one with diarrhea.... unless there was a drastic change of food.
What was he eating before, and what is he eating in your house? Same food, or did you change? If you change, did you change it gradually?
Did the vet do a fecal exam on both kitties to look for parasite?

Even though I believe this to be medical... The litter boxes: What litter are you using? What type of litter boxes? open, closed? Where are they located? Are you cleaning the spots with an enzyme cleaner?

Last but not least, be careful with the plants... Many house plants are highly toxic for cats... Do you know what plants do you have?

Hoping things get better in there!
