Artistic creativity is not limited to drawing. Do you have any other talents?

Perhaps you have a knack for making nice outfits of clothing, or arranging furniture in special ways, knowing how to put colors, shapes, patterns and textures together is artistic.

Cutting/dressing/styling hair can be an artistic talent. Not every hair dresser/stylist is an artist, but some truly do have a gift.

Being able to invent dance or exercise steps is artistic.

An ability to write, be it poetry or prose, fiction or essay, is artistic.

And so on....

My point is, don't sell yourself short. Everyone has some sort of creative ability. If you haven't found it yet, don't worry, it will come out in you eventually.

I'd like to be artistic, but unfortunatly I haz no skillz. I like to draw, paint (oil or water colors) and customize poor condition my little ponies but I'm not talented in any of those things.
My grandma paints, my cousin illustrates (childrens?) books some times, another cousin is a dancer (has been competing internationally), dress maker and he fixes old furniture and I've been told he now wants to do some blacksmith things. Yes, I'm jealous..

It's nice to see so many artistically-inclined people on TCS, as well as those that appreciate it! It makes me really sad to see the music and art programs get cut from public schools due to budget cuts.

You can check out some of my work here: http://www.aprilyim.com.
At the moment it's a mish-mash of paintings, drawings, metalwork/jewelry design, animation, and sculpture. I'm graduating in May. Time flies by too quickly!

And to those that feel like they don't have "talent" but wish they did, I can solemnly swear that like anything else, you get better by doing.

Hi,
I am an artist; a painter and currently a jewelry designer. I have a couple of websites:
www.etsy.com/shop/silvertreemoondesign (this is active)
www.imagoe.com (paintings)

I just started the etsy shop and while exciting, its alot of time, effort, hard work and yes, disappointing at times, but I plan on really working at it. While I love making things, and would love to do it just for the love of it, the ultimate goal has been to be financially independent...a bit of a rough slog for an artist.

For all of you who question your talent, creativeness, uniqueness, whatever...if you love doing it, just do it. Don't worry about what others think. The more you do it, the better you'll get. Do it for you, first.
If you find it difficult to actually "do" it, then write about it...it will help.

The book I mentioned is really great for artists, inspiring, wannabe's or for those just trying to get in touch with their creativity.

I know it's hard to find the time...I work w/my husband at his/our microphone business...the one that pays the bills. I've decided if I have to give something up to make time for my work, it's housecleaning.

Gizmo, my calico cat and BFF, loves joining me in my studio when I'm working, although she finds the process very noisy and annoying at times. I love having her in there with me...its very comforting on days when not much is going right. Somewhere I have a photo of her sitting on my lap, helping me paint a giant canvas...

But take a look at the book and I believe she has a website...I know she has a dog, but probably likes cats too...

Wow, April, you are super talented!! There were so many things on your site that I loved; your Germany impressions, your big black cat, your self portrait, to name a few. Oh, and your metalwork-I love that cuff! What are your plans when you graduate, if you dont mind my asking? Something art related, I hope! You're sooo good!

My teachers used to say that I was pretty mean with elmers, glitter, and macaroni noodles. JK, I used to do a little graphics design for websites, but that was pretty simple stuff.

I am a super creative/artsy person!

I love almost any medium that I can be creative with!

I love to sketch/draw/paint/color (( On paper AND on the computer - I do a LOT of art on my computer)).

I also love photography and photo manipulation as well as graphic arts.

I love to craft and be creative thinking up neat things on the fly.

I also love music.

Nothing is better than just leaping in, getting messy, having fun and seeing what the results are.

Thank you! I hope to find work in the illustration field once I graduate. I've got my heart set on drawing for a living.

Meryl, your paintings are quite impressive as well. But I have to admit your jewelry work is far more expressive. Your silver leaves in the wind choker is very delicate and beautiful.
