Today I finally got fed up with this $6.00/month Long Distance Short Fall charge (plus taxes on that charge
)

I sent one lousy fax to NJ, with a 40¢ charge. Now that charge was deducted from the $6.00 monthly charge. So in effect, my 1 page fax cost me $5.60 to send, errrr is that $6.00?. Whatever - the cost IS JUST TOO MUCH!!

Isn't that insane ! ?

And, to add insult to injury - we've been paying each month for nothin' - (we use our cell for long distance calls) - that is about $72 a year to the phone company just "in case" we use the LD service.

I called and cancelled it, and now we no longer have a LD carrier. Now my "short-fall" fee can go towards the feeding of my cats.

Anyone know of a good calling card company? When I do have a fax I'd like to send, I'll just use the 30-numbers on the card
to send a lousy fax - can you offer a suggestion on calling cards?
-or-
have another idea?

At the kitty's beck and call
We don't have a fax machine, so what we have done where we need to send an actual copy of a document is take a digital photo of the document and attach it to an email.

We have always asked the recipient first whether that would be acceptable and haven't had one refuse yet.

Thanks for reminding me - we have an HP Officejet, All-in-One - and I can scan the document into my computer and email it - a lot better than keying in 30 numbers, that's for sure!
