Why does she howl?

My courtyard cat, she's fed, she has water and food by her side, I'm giving her attention, sitting next to her, yet she howls? Or she'll look longingly and meow at the wall as if asking me to help her up there, but she always climbs it by herself, it's her natural place to be...

How old is she? Howling can be a symptom of certain illnesses, such as hyperthyroid or high blood pressure.

Or she may just be talking. Perhaps she wants to come inside? But if possible, I'd get her in to the vet for some blood work, BP check, and a check up.

That's what I was going to ask. The longing looks and howling are both signs of her being in heat.

She's neutered. I think she indeed may be asking to go inside, though she's not always sitting by the door when she howls/whines, often at the foot of the walls that she doesn't need me for nor would she let me help her onto...

But I think it's about going inside, yes, because she stops when I open the door to the building and she goes in and sleeps in her "bedroom" downstairs by the bomb shelter, where nobody ever goes. Maybe it was her way of teaching me that she wants her routine to be dinner-a drink-bedroom... That's what I did tonight and she's now happily sleeping downstairs... So is the other one. I even sometimes leave a sip of milk by their beds in case they wake up thirsty/hungry in the middle of the night and there's nobody to let them out. These are the first cool nights, so I didn't have their winter routine yet.
