Either they love the beds and are very thankful by cuddling in bed with you or well, the other not so nice reason.

So far the cat beds that I've bought have gone unused.
Chester likes to decide what he sleeps on. He started sleeping on my new chair so I put a towel on it to keep the fur off. He moved to the couch.
The fur was starting to pile up so I put a small fleece blanket on the couch. He moved back to the chair for a day.
Now he is sleeping on the floor in front of the couch.

I think they just don't want the beds. Aberdeen was sleeping in hers but Meatloaf will have nothing to do with it. She just wants to sleep with me.

Sprinkle catnip on them - it helps... Also, put them on places like under the bed... That's where mine prefer theirs...

Daisy doesn't care for cat beds. Siamie and Speck love them, however. Poor Speck...he is a Sphynx cat in a DSH body.
Bless his heart, he just freezes...and we keep our thermostat set to 70-72. He'll curl up in a cat bed much too small for him, because Siamie has taken the Orca bed. I would buy him a little sweater if I thought he'd wear it.

I never did bother with a cat bed for Blossom. The dogs, on the other hand, have a crate each and a huuuge comfy dog bed in the spare room. Where do I always find them? On the couch or bed of course.

I thought about getting Pixie a cat bed but she either sleeps with me or on my nephew's bed and she doesn't touch any of the toys but one that I have bought her nor has she touched her little two hole cat condo. So I figure it might be a waste to get her a cat bed. And she will not touch wet food either. She is a goofy, sweet cat.

We're considering a cat bed for Sneaky Pie. She likes to sleep inside dh's computer bag. It can't be that comfortable
So maybe if we get a bed and put it where Sneaky sleeps, maybe she'd choose that over the bag.
Our thinking is that the bag has 4 walls on it and she either feels secure- or she's thinking "it's MY bed- leave it alone Holly"

My cats never read the "Don't ever use cat beds" chapter of the "How To Drive Your Human Crazy" manual.
They love cat beds. They love the one Ootay
got for Christmas from her Reiki practitioner a couple years ago, though when it was Ootay's it was hers only, the others all use it now.
They love ALL the beds I make, though of course they don't get to keep most of them, since they go to other cats.
They love the box bed I made so long ago that is actually called the bed-bed because it lives on my bed.
They love the down-throw bed, and the hammock bed and the other box-bed, which lives on the kitchen chair.

PS of course they sleep other places too. Every thing in this apartment can be considered a potential cat sleeping place. It's all for them, after all.

Haha, aww. Well maybe they will adjust and adopt the beds after a bit of time.... Maybe.
I do have to agree though, anything that is a horizontal surface (or not- could be bent legs) is a potential cat bed.
Genever actually does sleep in her basket most nights, in between snuggling under the covers for a bit now and then. In the daytime though, she is wherever we are- usually on the sofa or chair in the living room.

Mine love their beds up high so we've got them on top of the kitchen cabinets, fridge and pantry. Only the kittens seem to like beds on the floor

It's funny about cat beds. I never had any success with cat beds, the few I tried, for many years. But this batch of 5 cats I have now all came from the same shelter. Maybe it is because there are so many cat beds there and they learned to use them by copying others there - but 4 of these cats use them all the time.
I have 7 cat beds. But the funny thing is that only certain cats like certain ones. Claude has two that no one else uses. Both are in my bedroom. The one under the bed came with him. It was in the cage when I picked him up and he didn't want to let go of it. He goes there at night, and during the day when he wants to be left alone. The other cat bed in there is by a heating vent. I've only seen him use it in the early morning when the furnace cranks up.
There is a pink oval bed under the sewing machine in my office (where I am now). My two males use it at times, but none of the females.
Ariel likes the round deep bed with high sides. But she's the only one who ever gets in it. She's in it much of the afternoon and evening.

And Harlow likes a pink bed tied to a chair by a window (and a bird feeder). But no one else ever uses it.

Tonya uses a cat bed under the human bed by the heat vent in "her room." Lily doesn't seem to use any of them, but she has her own special places like on top of the couch.

I have about 8 towels spread around on places the cats like to hang out - desks, chairs, my laptop computer case, etc. And there are blankets or throws on a bed and the couch. Because, everyplace they chose is a cat bed, after all. They also have 2 window shelves. Those are very popular with everyone. I'm just glad they don't argue about them. But they share them nicely. Sunbeams are very popular spots, too, and they will share them on the rugs.
After a while your cats may like the new beds. Sometimes you have to move them. In one place they will shun a bed, but in a new place, it's suddenly wonderful. I've tried catnip and Feliway spray to make a bed cat attractive. I had no success with that, but finding the right spot does work - at least for certain cats and certain beds.
At night, 4 of the 5 (not Ariel) sleep with me all or part of the night. Especially when it is cold. This morning I woke up to being hemmed in by 3 cats.
Robin
P.S. Here's an extra photo of Lily on the couch, just because I think she is so, SO cute!

Lily is precious. I see that here, too. Some beds and spots are used by one cat only. Some are used by all, some are used by only two or three.
Like someone else said, my cats, too, hang where ever I am, but my apartment is tiny so no matter what bed they choose to sleep in, they can see me and one another.

Cici won't touch her bed. She used one at the shelter, so we thought she'd want one.. but nope! She sleeps mostly on our bed or the chair. We tried putting the bed on the chair, but that just made her shun both. Silly cat.
Right now it's serving as a toy box for her army of toy mice, and she doesn't even particularly like reaching into it to get at the toys. Of course, she still does. Her day wouldn't be complete without somehow getting every last mouse under the stove or refrigerator.
