I've got a place in my heart for all kitties, but especially ferals and strays

Hi there. I have loved animals and kitties all my life, but when I met Sasha nine years ago, that changed everything. She was a feral kitten that had been trapped from a colony of sick cats. A friend of mine (the one who had trapped her) asked me to come see her. I told her that I didn't want a cat. She told me to just come look anyway. I said, "Oh, all right!" and then of course the little kitten with fleas, and worms, and an eye infection and an upper respiratory infection who was cowering in the back of the trap stole my heart instantly. And almost nine years later, here is the result of the love and patience (although the wonderful things she has done for me and my mental health are many times this):

Out of this relationship my fascination with all things feline was born!

Aw, that picture speaks thousands of words.
What is it about cats that just draw you in?

Welcome to TCS. I also love the ferals and strays and the ones that need us the most. I can't begin to count the ferals that have lived in our barn and touched my heart over the last 30 years.

Sasha is one lucky girl! And so are you!

I have always loved animals of all sorts (an example of this--when I was about 10, I'd sit out in front of the neighbor's house down the street until their weiner dog who would bark at everyone became my friend. Later on, they ended up giving him to our family). What really drew me to cats, though, was Sasha. When she first "adopted me", I read up a lot about cat behavior and taming ferals, and then I got more and more interested in cats in general.

I think that some of the things that draw me in are that they are so beautiful and graceful and also very smart, much smarter than a lot of people give them credit for. And despite the stereotypes that they are aloof, I have found them to be some of the most loving and loyal creatures to have around. My picture above is a great example of that.

What a sweet picture. Funny how these "free" cats cost so much, but they are all worth it.
She looks like a sweet little thing and is obviously happy next to her Mom
