An Upsetting Vet Visit

It was suppose to be a simple vet visit for Emmy. It wasn't. The vet found a lump inside her left front leg--close to her upper chest area. It's the size of a walnut. I never felt it because I've been trying to respect her space and not over do the touching. She is also a very chubby girl so the vet had a hard time finding it. She goes into surgery on Monday morning for a biopsy. That's all I feel like saying right now. I'm numb. I will say that if I lose another cat this year...I don't know..I think I'll just shut down. Though I'm trying to be positive...it's hard.

That its nothing to bad. Sorry you had to have been told this.

Don't get too upset until you know you have a reason to. Lumps can be a lot of different things and for the bost part they are benign. My dog got a lump on his chest, right between his ribs, last winter and of course I was a nervous wreck thinking that it may be cancer. It was a hard lump so it didn't feel like a fatty tumor. He went in to have the lump removed and at the same time they checked it and fortunately it was just a fatty tumor after all.
I too got a bump on myself which also turned out to be a harmless cyst. Hopefully this will be the case with Emmy too. Statistically that is the most likely outcome.

I'll send some good vibed Emmy's way on Monday to be on the safe side

Take care of yourself and spoil Emmy a little extra this holiday.

!!!!!!!

Ming Loy had a lump in her neck. Vet told us to keep an eye on it. Two years later, it seemed it got a little larger. She had her surgery a couple of months ago. It was a benign cyst.

I hope it's this simple for Emmy - and for you.

Awww, that's not fun! Praying all goes well on Monday and it's nothing too serious.

Easier said than done, but try not to worry right now - but many many cysts are nothing at all - I've had the human version several times. I know this is a nightmare for you right now, but try to stay calm for Emmy's sake. Many prayers are being said for you - try to remember that.

And maybe Emmy was guided to you so you'd go to that vet - and they'd find the lump and remove it. Who knows how long it's been there - but with your care, Emmy's going to have the best care, and love, available.

I know it's upsetting, but just wait and see what the test shows on Monday. I know Monday's a long way away from now, and it's going to seem like forever but hopefully you'll find out it's nothing serious!

Don't you just HATE that having to wait a week or more to find out stuff? It awful!!!

As others have said, try, try, try (and it's really hard) not to worry to much and imagine the worst, when you really don't know and it may be nothing.

And even if it is something, it may not be serious. Most of the time it isn't.

I'll be send good vibrations your way.

Here's to Emmy! And you, because you are the best thing that ever happened to Emmy!

that it's just a benign cyst and all will be welll with Emmy!

Chances are it's a benign cyst, but I'd be upset, too - it's something you just can't help being. Keeping that it's nothing and Emmy will be right as rain.

You have all of us supporting you and Emmy. Just like everyone else says, it could very well be a cyst.

I will be praying for this to be true. Emmy is in good hands.

Thanks Everybody!! I'm just going to spend Thanksgiving alone with Emmy and pray that it's a cyst or fatty tumor--something benign!!! I'll fix her a little plate of turkey and mashed taters. I don't think she would be brought into my life just to be taken from me so soon!!
the rest of her vet visit went very well. She's microhipped and her stool was negative for parasites. I don't have her blood work back yet. She was a good girl,!! I'm going to think positive!!!

I'm SO glad to hear you thinking positively! It's important for both of you.

You have been through SO much hun... I am sending so many vibes for the precious Emmy! One of my aunt's beagles has a couple of fatty lumps on him, but they have never bothered him and the vet said just to leave them be. No point in jumping to conclusions.
