URI? Did the baby come in to the house sick from the shelter by any chance?

Crf cats are Very Prone to infections... Most likely this is a URI and a vet needs to see him asap for proper treatment... I second did the baby come home with the sniffles?

In fact he did...Sasha showed no symptoms for the past 3 weeks and this morning it's almost as if he was crying...looks like I'll have to start Sasha on lysine too!

Sasha got that antibiotic shot when I saw Dr White a few weeks ago; that might be why he was okay until now...oh boy, I just gave him some lysine gel...you should have seen the evil eye he gave me!

Saw Dr White this time.

Yep, it's a cold, but she says Sasha looks much better than the last time she saw him. No fever...but she was concerned about his eyes. So it's Fucithalmic ointment twice a day for the next 14 days; Lysine supplements (which he absolutely hates: he just drooled out what I gave him!) and keep up the Sub Q/antacid/appetite stimulant treatments...

We only have partial results for the urine culture: yes, Sasha did (and still has) a bacterial infection. The Lab is still working on which type of bacteria it is so they can prescribe the appropriate antibiotics.

I guess I'll try the Lysine powder in the food trick...no telling whether or not Sasha's getting enough. Hopefully (keeping my fingers crossed) once the bacterial infection is properly treated, Sasha will be his old self as far as using the potty!

Oh yeah, and Dr White weighed him again, he hasn't lost any weight in fact he put on...a few ounces. Not a lot, but better to gain a few ounces than to lose weight!

Get yourself some 100% pure L-Lysine powder... put it on the food and he will eat it. you can also mix it on his favorite treat. My kitties fave treats, bar none (the ones who ca eat treats) is purina whisker lickin's They work better than pill pockets to give meds! I mash one of the soft ones in my hand, put the pill inside of it, and shape the treat again - works like a charm and it is never refused. You can do the same thing with the powder, but you'd have to mash a few treats to do that...
But, the powder just has a salty taste, my kitties drink in their water fountain - whenever they have a flair (never since they started drinking in the water) they get it in their wet food... It is unnoticeable.
I use the Now brands, but there are other brands out there. I pay about $15 for 522 doses of 500mg - it is a bargain compared to treats! Here it is, see if you can find it there in Canada.

Ditto the above... I found I have to let it dissolve in water prior to feeding but on the food ( wet and dry) they lap it up like most do tuna juice)...

Would a hairball like gel be easier ?

The gel is what he hates, the Viralys. I think he doesn't dig the vanilla flavor!

ensiyl f is the paste I use at times( again Amozon has the best price ) it is cod flavored( or that is my guess as other than lysine cod liver oil in the main ingredient ).. Power is way cheaper and gives higher and IMHO easier dosing( the one I ma using is source naturals and it has over 1300 mg per 1/2 teaspoon

What I did before leaving for work was I opened a Lysine capsule, dissolved it in hot water and mixed it into Sasha's Hi Tor wet food. He was napping, and he gave me this "what are you up to now?" look...

I said "Well it's this or the (renal) kibble, your choice. The wet food will help you feel better!".

I never though of serving the diluted lysine powder before feeding him though...I'll have to see if he finds the smell appetizing or if he raises his nose on it!
